Taste Before You Waste - Queen's Chapter

Taste Before You Waste - Queen's Chapter We are non-profit, action based initiative helping to reduce food waste and promote greater consciousness around food and waste sustainability.

Taste Before You Waste Kingston is an independent and horizontally-lead initiative which aims to raise awareness about the problem of food waste at production and consumer levels, and actively works on reducing waste on a local level. We aim to collect fruit, vegetables and other food products from stores around Kingston that would have otherwise been thrown out, and then we proceed to organize fr

ee food markets. The purpose of these markets is to redistribute food that would usually be wasted, as well as simultaneously educating the Kingston community on food waste sustainability.

Attention meal prep-enthusiasts and those looking for a quick, easy way to stay healthy during exams!

While we all want to maintain a well-balanced diet, it can be hard to do so when we enter this busy time of year. On top of that, it can be challenging to do so in a sustainable way.
But fear not, foodies!

Zero-waste meal prep does exist! We found this gem of a website to pass along to you all, which provides some tips on how to reduce waste when preparing food.

https://zerowastechef.com/2017/05/28/start-here/

Some of our favourite tips include switching plastic for glass containers to store prepared meals, or opting to preserve leftover vegetables like cabbage as a means to repurpose something we'd otherwise throw out.
Visit this website for more tips like this one, and you'll see that it is definitely doable to stay healthy and sustainable.
