Youth Cadet Program returning to Nunavik in Fall 2026
The Nunavik Police Service is proud to announce the relaunch of the Youth Cadet Program in Kuujjuaq in the fall of 2026.
Designed for Nunavik youth interested in becoming police officers, the program combines policing-related activities with Inuit cultural knowledge and practices. While it isn’t a police training program, it helps participants develop leadership skills, explore careers in policing, and prepare pathways towards becoming police officers.
Beginning this fall, we will welcome youth between the ages of 18 to 20 to take part. The program will expand to younger age groups and to other Nunavik communities in the future.

Retour du programme de cadets au Nunavik à l’automne 2026
Le Service de police du Nunavik est fier d’annoncer la relance du programme de cadets à Kuujjuaq à l’automne 2026.
Ce programme, destiné aux jeunes du Nunavik qui souhaitent devenir policiers, combine des activités liées au travail policier à des connaissances et à des pratiques culturelles inuites. Bien qu’il ne s’agisse pas d’un programme de formation policière, il permet aux participants de développer leurs compétences en leadership, d’explorer les possibilités de carrière dans la police et de se préparer à entreprendre le parcours menant à la profession policière.
Dès cet automne, nous accueillerons des jeunes de 18 à 20 ans qui souhaitent participer au programme. Celui-ci sera élargi, à l’avenir, à des groupes d’âge plus jeunes ainsi qu’à d’autres communautés du Nunavik

Chief of Police congratulates Inukjuak hockey team

Thanks in part to stellar goaltending from NPS Constable Justin Blanchette, an Inukjuak hockey team reached the finals of a Sikulik Cup competition from March 25-30.

The big winners are the community. The team’s 2nd place finish came with a $10,000 prize, which the team is donating toward Inukjuak arena upgrades.

Beyond the team’s success, this participation helped to strengthen links between the police and the community.
I congratulate Constable Blanchette and other NPS officers in Inukjuak for their year-long participation in many community activities during the year.

Le chef de la police félicite l’équipe de hockey d’Inukjuak

Grâce notamment à la performance exceptionnelle du gardien de but du SPN, Justin Blanchette, une équipe de hockey s’est qualifiée pour la finale de la Coupe Sikulik, qui s’est déroulée du 25 au 30 mars.

C’est la communauté qui en sort grande gagnante! La deuxième place remportée par l’équipe s’accompagne d’un prix de 10 000 dollars, que l’équipe fait don pour la rénovation de la patinoire d’Inukjuak.

Au-delà du succès remporté par l’équipe, cette participation a contribué à renforcer les liens entre la police et la communauté.
Je tiens à féliciter l’agent Blanchette et les autres agents de police du SPN à Inukjuak pour leur participation, au cours de l’année, à de nombreuses activités communautaires.
