Banff Outdoor Group is a local community geared towards adults 18 to 39 who have a passion for the outdoors, and meeting others. While primarily hiking there may be other activities such as mountain biking, rafting, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, or paddle-boarding. With so many of the locals extremely active we created this group to help us connect. Either in coordinated weekly events or for the i
mpromptu "I need a partner to do this!"
Our group is maintained by a small number of volunteers, but it is widely group-operated and all members are welcome to host hikes and contribute in any way. However, if you are visiting from out of town, or do not wish to join larger group events, and would like to request a guide for a private hike please contact us. If you're looking for a scenic walk to take some great photos, a more challenging summit, or are just interested in exploring the outdoors, join us at anytime during the year. We recommend bringing proper hiking attire for every hike, which should include a water bottle, small snack, sturdy pair of shoes with good tread or hiking boots, and optionally hiking poles. Check the weather forecast before heading out, and prepare for all possible scenarios. At least once a year we will organize a backcountry trip somewhere in the Rockies. This will include a full day-long hike as well as an overnight stay in a fully serviced campground. This year we’re looking at The Skyline Trail in Jasper, Lake O’Hara, Skoki Valley, Berg Lake and Mt Assiniboine.
