Township Of McKellar

Township Of McKellar Follow our new page to stay connected with your community! Here you’ll find public notices, updates, and details on upcoming events.

The Township of McKellar has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s, when the first settlers arrived. Officially incorporated in 1873, we proudly celebrated our 150th anniversary in 2023! Once a thriving logging community, McKellar roots shaped the land and even played a part in the creation of the beautiful Lake Manitouwabing. Nestled in the heart of Muskoka, Canada’s beloved cottage count

ry, we’re surrounded by wonderful neighbours including the Town of Parry Sound, Whitestone, Carling, and McDougall. Today, McKellar is a welcoming community that blends history, nature, and small-town charm.

Well said, Whitestone. We would also like to echo and support this sentiment.

Beaver Dams: Cute Builders, Big Problems

Beavers are impressive little engineers, but sometimes their construction projects are a bit too successful. Beaver dams on private property can cause water to back up, leading to flooded ditches, damaged culverts, and even road washouts.

Municipal staff are not permitted to enter private property to remove dams, so we’re asking residents to keep an eye on their properties and clear beaver dams where needed before they cause bigger issues.

We appreciate your help keeping water flowing, roads safe, and our local beavers from getting too ambitious with their infrastructure plans.

Voting in the municipal and school board elections on October 26? 🗳️ Check your school support designation by June 1 to help ensure Ontario has the right information.

Your school support designation shows which school board you support and which trustee election you can vote in. By default, it’s set to English-Public, unless you choose a different option (if eligible). 🏫

It’s quick and easy to view or update your designation online through MPAC (the Property Assessment Corporation). ➡️

Change your school board support on your assessment to a different board.
