You may have now received, or will soon receive, your Voter Information Letter in the mail. Your Voter Information Letter contains the instructions and information you need to cast your vote by telephone or internet.

📅 Voting begins: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
Please note: You will not be able to vote before 10:00 a.m. on October 14.

🗓️ Voting ends: Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. (Election Day)

💻 Need assistance with voting?
A laptop will be available at the Township Office beginning October 14 at 10:00 a.m. for residents who require assistance casting their vote.

The laptop will be available during regular office hours throughout the voting period. On Election Day, October 26, staff will be available to assist voters until 8:00 p.m.

🚨BALSAM WILDERNESS TRAIL CLOSURE 🚨

Please be advised that the Balsam Wilderness Trail will be closed for the entire day on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The closure is necessary to facilitate the decommissioning of the telecommunications tower located at the trailhead.

⚠️ For public safety, please do not enter the trail during the closure.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

What a wonderful time the children's stuffies had at their Winnie the Pooh sleepover. Congratulations to the McKellar Township Public Library on such a great idea and a wonderful job!

🐢 A Successful Turtle Release on Hurdville Road!

During Phase II of the reconstruction of Hurdville Road, the Township of McKellar and Generations Effect worked together throughout the turtle nesting season to carefully collect and protect just over 300 snapping turtle eggs.

Yesterday, on behalf of Council, Mayor David Moore, Councillor Morley Haskim and Councillor Mike Kekkonen had the opportunity to release a clutch of 68 snapping turtles back into the area where the eggs originally came from. 🐢💚

A special thank you to Weeks Construction Inc. for their care and attention in ensuring the turtle eggs remained unharmed throughout the reconstruction portion of the project.

We would also like to extend our thanks to RHH Engineering for their work and support throughout the project.

It was wonderful to see these little snappers make their way back home! 🌿🐢
