Yesterday, in recognition of Red Shirt Day and National AccessAbility Week, staff and clients across SHIP proudly wore red ❤️ to show their support.

Together we stood in solidarity with persons with disabilities and their families, celebrated the many achievements of people living with disabilities, and reaffirmed our commitment to building a fully accessible and inclusive society.

At SHIP, we hold as one of our core values, and that includes creating spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute 🏡💬🧡

In recognition of National AccessAbility Week, SHIP’s ERG Abilities brought staff together at our Corporate Office for a powerful afternoon of learning and reflection.

We watched Out of My Mind, a film that follows a young girl with cerebral palsy as she navigates the challenges and triumphs of growing up with a disability. Her story sparked meaningful conversation about accessibility in our workplaces, communities, and relationships.

Following the film, staff participated in a thoughtful discussion on the barriers faced by many of our clients, coworkers, and community members. We explored how we can continue to build more inclusive, supportive environments and take action to create real change both at work and in our personal lives.

At SHIP, advancing accessibility is a necessary part of our commitment to Quality Housing, Quality Services, and Quality Lives!

🧡 We had such a great time visiting the team at Home Depot Mississauga South this past weekend!

A huge thank you to the entire store team for welcoming us so warmly and for your incredible commitment to making a difference in your community. It's truly heartwarming to see all the passion and care across the team!

We are deeply grateful to The Home Depot Canada Foundation and the Orange Door Project for standing with organizations like SHIP in the fight to prevent and end youth homelessness. Because of this campaign, more young people can access safe housing, support, and a chance to build a brighter future.

We're proud to be the selected partner for the following Home Depot locations:

📍 Mississauga South #7112
3065 Mavis Road, Mississauga

📍 Brampton West #7301
9515 Mississauga Rd, Brampton

📍 Bolton #7269

From May 12 to June 14, you can support the Orange Door Project by making a donation at checkout in-store or online. Every contribution helps change a young person’s life. If you’re visiting one of these stores, consider adding a small donation. A small gesture at checkout really does make a big impact.

Our Grants Chair Shirley Boxem and committee member Ernie Lynch recently toured the new HART Hub Dufferin In Orangeville.

Operated by Services and Housing In the Province - SHIP and supported by a network of community partners (see full list below), the HART Hub provides integrated mental health, addictions, housing, and basic needs support for individuals in Dufferin County.

“What stood out most during our visit was the genuine care behind this space,” shared Shirley Boxem. “Every person deserves support, dignity, and hope during difficult times, and this space represents our community coming together to make sure no one has to face those challenges alone.”

Thank you to SHIP, the Province of Ontario, and the many local agencies and partners who are building a more connected and compassionate system of care right here in Dufferin County.
