Come out to Caseley Park in Riverview on Saturday September 26! We are so excited for the success of Vitalii and Yurii Easy Volunteer platform.
When Vitalii Petrenko and Yurii Topchii first met through Civic Tech Moncton, they were both volunteering their technology skills to help local non-profits. Little did they know that their shared passion for giving back would eventually lead to the creation of EasyVolunteer.ca, a new social enterprise SaaS platform based in Riverview and designed to connect volunteers with charities, non-profits, businesses, and organizations looking for help. Vitalii, originally from Ukraine, brings more than 15 years of experience in technology development, cybersecurity, data engineering, and program architecture. While Yurii, who moved to Riverview from Kyiv with his family, has a diverse background in civil aviation engineering, entrepreneurship, quality assurance, and business analysis.
Their experiences volunteering in the community helped them identify issues that they believed they could address. âWe saw a gap between charities and non-profits with finding volunteers and managing them,â Yurii explains. They also recognized that volunteering could be particularly valuable for newcomers, students, and others who are trying to build Canadian experience and professional networks. Vitalii remembers arriving to Canada without an established network and encountering challenges when trying to find opportunities. âWhen I moved here, I didnât have a network of friends,â he says. âWe built this platform so people can find a volunteering position they are interested in, and the company or organization can give you feedback about your work with them.â Their goal is to help turn those volunteer experiences into something people can highlight as they pursue future employment opportunities.
EasyVolunteer.ca was designed to make the process easier for both sides. Volunteers create one profile that includes their resume, experience, and skills, which can then be viewed by multiple organizations instead of having to start from scratch each time they apply for an opportunity. Volunteers can also earn badges and endorsements that help demonstrate their skills and experience. The opportunities are not limited to traditional volunteer roles either. Organizations can look for people with specific skills such as marketing, grant research, development, electrical work, and much more. Since launching their website back in April, EasyVolunteer.ca has already grown to almost five hundred volunteers, and the founders are continuing to build relationships with local organizations and expand their platform.
Vitalii and Yurii are inviting the community to celebrate their official launch of EasyVolunteer.ca at their Community BBQ on Saturday, September 26 at Caseley Park from 12 â 3 p.m. The event will bring together volunteers, students, businesses, community leaders, and organizations looking for volunteers. Guests can enjoy a Lebanese BBQ, with proceeds going to Diabetes Canada, along with entertainment from Mike Maillet, photography by AndrĂ© Boulard, giveaways, and much more.
