The next Hawthorne Park Work Party is this Saturday! We will be focusing our efforts on areas that are completely taken over by Invasive Himalayan Blackberry. So make sure to dress in clothes that protect your skin (and you don't mind getting snagged on blackberry thorns).

Our General Meeting and Elections are scheduled for Wednesday, September 13th, starting at 4:30 pm. The exact location is yet to be confirmed, but we will update you on our social media platforms and through email as soon as it's finalized.

During this meeting, we will provide a brief overview of our club's activities from the past year, discuss plans for the upcoming year, and hold elections to select our 2023-2024 executive team. There will also be pizza!

Additionally, if you are interested in taking on a leadership role within our club, we are still accepting applications for executive positions. The positions and the form to apply can also be found in the link tree in our bio. You can also apply on the spot at elections!

Becoming an executive for the VIU Parks Canada Club is a great way to boost your resume, network, learn new skills and have fun!

Since being an executive member is a volunteer position we rely on our team's passion to explore, enjoy, and protect natural areas. Exact responsibilities vary for each position, but in general, each executive member is expected to express mutual responsibility to ensure the club runs smoothly and to help plan/lead events.

Since we partner with outside organizations (City of Nanaimo, Parks Canada), dedicated executive members are often rewarded with networking opportunities, job offers, on-record highly transferable skills and more!

Join us for our last Hawthorne Work Party of the semester on Sunday morning from 10am to 12pm at the north entrance of Hawthorne Park. Help remove the invasive Daphne regrowth and then stick around for some pizza, fun and a chance to win prizes!
