Nelson and District Women's Centre The Nelson & District Women’s Centre is a feminist organization that celebrates, supports and empowers Kootenay women and gender diverse individuals.

We provide a welcoming space where women create strong community, participate in diverse learning opportunities, receive compassionate support, and access free resources such as food, clothing, and peer counseling.

Stopping the Violence Women's Outreach is hosting a FREE Drum Circle at the Nelson Women's Centre at 420 Mill St. Nelson, BC!

When?
5pm to 7pm on October 20th, November 10th, and December 8th.

Who is this for?
All self identifying adult women (service providers are welcome)

There will be snack and drinks available. Please feel free to bring your own drum if you would like, but it is not required. Please note we will be smudging indoors.

The Nelson & District Women’s Centre will be closed on September 30th in recognition of Orange Shirt Day.

We honour Survivors of residential schools and the children who never returned home. We honour their families, and all the Indigenous communities and people affected by colonization and residential schools. The last residential school in 'canada' closed only 29 years ago in 1977.

We encourage our community to use this day to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful action toward reconciliation and decolonization.

We are kicking off the first day of Youth Drop-in with a PIZZZZZZZA PARTY!

Wednesday September 23rd after school from 3pm to 5pm at the Nelson Women's Centre!

Youth Drop-in is open to youth of all genders aged 11 to 14.

If you are interested in attending, email [email protected] or pop in to the women's centre when we are open to sign the waiver before attending!

Our AGM will be September 22rd, 2026 at 6pm,!

We want to encourage you all to become a member and join this important meeting. This is your organization and we want your voice to be heard!

Become a Member by a sliding scale of $20-$100 for an annual membership!

The AGM will be hosted virtually on Zoom. We understand that this can be a barrier for some people, so if you have any concerns, reach out to [email protected] for assistance!

The Agenda Package will be emailed out to registered attendees on September 15. There will be a printed copy of the agenda package at the Nelson Women's Centre if members would like to review it there.

Please note that you must be a member in good standing to attend the AGM.

We had so much fun at our recent baking workshop, here is a sneak peek behind the scenes to see how the bread was made! From preparing the dough to shaping and baking, it was a hands-on look into the care, skill, and process that goes into making fresh bread, salsa and jam from our local markets.

Our Drop-In is a welcoming space to spend time, meet others, access resources, learn about local supports, or simply enjoy a safe and comfortable space.

The Curve of Time is a book Worth getting lost in! This biography follows M. Wylie Blanchet as she set sout on an adventure with her five children along the wild B.C cost. She is the captain, engineer, navigator and mother, highlighting themes of motherhood, independence and connection to nature.
