As we head into wildfire season, please make sure all outdoor fires are fully extinguished before leaving them unattended.

We've received reports of fires being left smoldering. A fire that appears out can easily reignite and spread, especially during dry and windy conditions.

✅ Keep a water source nearby at all times
✅ Soak the fire thoroughly when finished
✅ Stir the ashes and soak again
✅ Never leave a fire unattended

Help keep our community and surrounding area safe. If it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to leave.

Thank you for doing your part.

Yesterday, members of the Norman Wells Fire Department participated in cross-training exercises with the local Environment and Climate Change (ECC) wildland fire crew, helping familiarize crews with the Town’s new Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) equipment and response capabilities.

A big thank you to ECC for their continued support, including assistance in securing federal funding for the new WUI trailers, and for their ongoing partnership in strengthening wildfire preparedness and community protection in Norman Wells. 🚒🔥
