JOB POSTING: Maintenance Foreman (Permanent Part-Time)

The Village of North Portal is seeking a motivated and reliable Maintenance Foreman. This is a permanent part-time position with flexible hours that vary throughout the year depending on seasonal demands, weather conditions, and municipal priorities.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Maintaining public lands, roads, alleys, ditches, the lagoon, cemetery, and municipal buildings.
• Snow clearing, grass mowing, w**d control, tree trimming, and installation of signage.
• Operating and maintaining municipal equipment, including tractors and mowers.
• Performing routine equipment inspections, servicing, minor repairs, and coordinating major repairs.
• Assisting the waterworks operator with municipal utility tasks as required.
• Assisting during local emergency situations.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe municipal workshop.

The ideal candidate will possess:
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Good leadership and supervisory abilities.
• A professional and respectful attitude.
• Experience operating tractors, mowers, and maintenance equipment (preferred).
• Experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, or general maintenance (an asset).
• The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to changing seasonal demands.

With regret (but also best wishes), the Village of North Portal must announce our Maintenance Foreman Adrian Schindel is retiring this fall. For over 10 years Adrian has provided excellent service to our community. Village Council and staff wish Adrian a very happy retirement and many thanks for his years of dedication.

NOTICE: SEPTIC TANK CLEANING
The village is offering septic tank cleaning this fall (dates TBA).

The cost will be $105 per tank. The charge will be added to your December 2026 utility bill.

PLEASE NOTE: accounts in arrears will not be eligible for tank cleaning until the account is paid in full.

If you need your sewage tank cleaned, DM by: September 15th, 2026.
