🚨 Community Safety in Action 🚨

At approximately 2:00 AM, while responding to a routine alarm call in Barrie, Southwestern Defence security operatives uncovered something far more critical than a faulty door sensor.

While investigating the source of the alarm at a local school, our agents located a previously reported missing child.

✅ Our communications centre was immediately notified, and police were dispatched.
✅ Leveraging their prior knowledge of the school grounds, our agents guided officers through the building and assisted in securing the site.
✅ Thanks to quick coordination, the child was safely reunited with their parents.

This incident highlights the real value our team provides—beyond safeguarding property, our agents are protecting the wellbeing of the communities we serve.

A special thank you to the Barrie Police Service for their swift response and collaboration. 👏

Did you know that the Township of Southgate Canine Control By-law states that:
• All dogs must be licensed;
• Dogs must not run at large;
• All dogs must always be leashed when off of the owners property; and
• Leashes must be no longer than 1.8 metres (6 feet)

A dog is considered to be running at large when it is found in a place other than the property of the owner and the dog is not on a leash or under the care of a person capable of handling and controlling the dog.

Ensuring that your dog is not running at large helps:
• Protect your dog for harm;
• Prevent unwanted encounters; and
• Keep public spaces safe for everyone

If your dog is found running at large it may be impounded, and you may incur fines and impound fees. For more information, visit the Canine Control page at www.southgate.ca.
