Don’t fly drones within nine kilometres of a wildland fire. Drones interfere with wildland firefighting operations and put pilots, FireRangers and other emergency personnel at risk. Flying drones near fires is dangerous and illegal.

After successful suppression efforts by our fire management personnel and significant rainfall, Timmins 9 is now listed as Under Control. Bucketing helicopters have continued to support thirteen ground crews as they patrol and action hot spots within the perimeter. Heavy equipment teams and our Incident Management Team have now wrapped up their operations, while crews continue working on the fire.

🚒 Equipment Upgrade

We have received our two new thermal imaging cameras, purchased from AJ Stone Company. These cameras will replace our current 20-year-old units and will enhance our ability to locate fire, identify hotspots, and find patients during emergency incidents.

On behalf of the department, I would like to thank Council and the Ratepayers for supporting this important equipment upgrade and helping us continue to provide the best possible service to our community. 🚒

During a thunderstorm, go indoors and stay away from windows. If you are driving, stay in the vehicle, pull over and stay away from tall objects that could fall.

After the last rumble of thunder, stay inside for at least 30 minutes and stay at least 10 m away from any downed power lines.
