It was named after William McDougall, one of the Fathers of Confederation. In 2000, the Township of McDougall amalgamated with the geographic township of Ferguson, and created the Municipality of McDougall. McDougall benefits significantly from its location along the shores of Georgian Bay and numerous inland lakes. Located just two hours north of Toronto and a 10-minutes north of Parry Sound via
Highway 400, McDougall is home to 2,702 permanent residents, with a population that more than doubles in the summer months with the influx of cottagers, seasonal residents and visitors. We are home to multiple rivers and lakes, and nature trails for those who love the outdoors. McDougall is a popular year-round destination for people looking to escape the city, wanting time to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and the environment offering many recreational activities and opportunities.
