Henry Clarke said that anyone with a billion dollars to spend on single-family homes across Canada to rent out will be a "good landlord."

Look at how increasingly large businesses treat their employees worse over time, stripping them of rights and protections. Look at how abusive that relationship gets as they approach a monopoly.

When tens of thousands of tenants are facing evictions, Doug Ford unveiled what is called as “Ontario's Justice Accelerated Strategy”. But the strategy will only accelerate evictions, not justice!

During COVID-19 pandemic, the LTB moved from in-person to online hearings/ remote hearings. But this will now be made permanent even post pandemic and the LTB will be one of the first Ontario tribunals to implement the system in Summer 2021! This when more than half of Ontario tenants have income below $40,000 and therefore cannot afford internet/ phone and doing multiple jobs just to put food on the table!

Many ACORN members across Ontario have gone through the process of digital hearings and the experience has been devastating. No easy way to submit evidence, limited access to duty counsel - especially for those who don’t have access to the internet/phone, those with language barriers or who are not digitally literate.

We know that this move will not at all make it safer and easier for tenants to access justice!

The housing crisis isn't being dealt with BECAUSE it's widening the wealth gap, not in spite of that. Families that own real estate have been getting substantially wealthier at the expense of those who can't afford to get into the housing market and they have no personal incentive to want public housing, affordable housing, or low-barrier housing.

Middle-class liberals want rentier capitalism.
