Sean Grosman’s SMG Motorsports Once Again Tabs Ryan Kimball for Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic
NORWOOD, ON – Former Peterborough Speedway weekly Late Model champion Flyin’ Ryan Kimball will be back behind the wheel of a Pro Late Model at the Autumn Colours Classic this weekend, thanks to longtime car owner and sponsor Sean Grosman.
The tandem will reunite for ‘the Classic’ after partnering to win the 2014 edition in the Ltd. Late Model division – a career first for driver and owner.
"It's hard not to feel some confidence walking into this weekend every year," smiles Kimball. "Our whole team loves this event more than any other race we do all season. And, somehow, these guys are able to give me a better piece every single year. I know we can unload with a package strong enough to keep us in the mix all weekend"
Kimball’s 2014 victory added to an extensive resume that already included multiple Mosport Speedway and Peterborough Speedway championships, as well as a Sunset Speedway Velocity 250 triumph.
This weekend, the Norwood, ON veteran hopes to return to the provincial forefront with a win in Sunday’s 116-lap Pro Late Model A-Main that’s certain to attract a number of elite-level teams from all corners of the province.
"Winning the Limited [Late Model] feature was just about the biggest moment of my career," admits the former Peterborough champion.
"I want that feeling again. We've had some great runs in the Pro Late [Model] but just haven't been able to seal the deal for one reason or another. I really believe that I owe it to my team to go out and get this one"
And, as a former Peterborough regular, Kimball hopes to carry a definitive edge into one of Ontario’s most coveted events.
"The hometrack advantage is as real as the track itself," insists Kimball. "That place is a frustrating spot to try and figure out in three days. Our team knows every crack and seam on that surface - hopefully that helps us take a lot of the guesswork out of our setup on Sunday"
"I can't even explain how excited I am to be in Sean's car for the Classic," continues the multi-time Peterborough winner. "His stuff really is second to none. The amount of prep he puts into his equipment is incredible"
"It's an honour that he trusts me with his car, and it means the world that he believes my team and I can bring him this win. Now, we've just got to make the right decisions and get to the front."
Ryan Kimball’s Autumn Colours Classic effort will be made possible thanks to the support of For Your Eyes Only of Toronto, The Landing Strip Gentleman's Club of Toronto, Flagship Properties, SMG Motorsports, GTA Racing Design and Rylex Glass & Mirror.
