Beekeeping Workshops at Honey Pie Hives & Herbals Save the bees! Always wanted to keep honey bees? Anyone can do it – almost anywhere. Learn the basics, from building the beehive to harvesting honey. Sun. April 24.

Series of 6 all day workshops held at Honey Pie Farm in Prince Edward County, ON. Workshops one Sunday a month, from April until September. Honey Pie’s Head Drone Gavin North has been keeping bees in the County for 22 years. Some of the topics we will discuss include:

Workshop #1 Build your own hive – top to bottom. Site selection & preparation. Workshop #2 Tour of the hive. How to install your

nucleus of bees. May 15th. Workshop #3 Catching & preventing swarms. Prepare for the honey flow. June 12th

Workshop #4 Harvest your honey: uncapping and extracting. July 10th

Workshop #5 Maintaining bee health: pests & diseases of the hive. Aug. 7th

Workshop #6 Winter preparations; mead making; about beeswax. Sept. 11th

Fees:
$125.00 (+ HST) per workshop
$700.00 (+HST) for all six workshops - deadline April 23
early bird special $600 (+HST) if paid before March 1
special price for additional family member $400 (+HST)
