🌡️ Cooling Stations Available Today

The Township of Blandford-Blenheim is setting up cooling stations today for residents who need a place to cool down. Both cooling stations will be open until 5:00 p.m. today:

📍 Princeton Fire Hall
707024 Township Road 2, Princeton

📍 Plattsville Fire Hall
112 Albert Street East, Plattsville

🔌 Electrical outlets will be available at both cooling stations for residents who need to charge their phones or other essential devices. Power and phone charging are also available at the Township Administration Office, 47 Wilmot Street South, Drumbo, until 5:00 p.m..

Please note that internet service is not available at any of these locations, but power is available.

☎️ The Township Office remains open today until 5:00 p.m.; however, our phones and debit machine are currently unavailable. If you need to reach the Township today, please email [email protected].

Please stay cool, stay hydrated and check in on neighbours, family and friends who may need some extra support during the heat.

This exciting community event is an opportunity to tour the new station, meet members of our Fire Department, and celebrate this important investment in the safety and well-being of our community.

Event Schedule
🕙 10:00 a.m. – Event begins & station open for tours
🎤 10:30 a.m. – Opening remarks from the Mayor and invited dignitaries
✂️ 11:00 a.m. – Official ribbon cutting ceremony
🌭 Following the ceremony – Complimentary community BBQ and refreshments

Wildfire smoke is affecting air quality across much of Ontario, making it more important than ever to keep the air inside your home as clean as possible. Environment Canada has issued air quality warnings for many areas of the province due to smoke from wildfires.

Health Canada recommends:

🏡 Keep windows and doors closed when outdoor air quality is poor.
🌬️ Use air conditioning or your home's ventilation system with the highest quality filter recommended by the manufacturer.
🚭 Don't smoke indoors.
🕯️ Limit the use of candles and incense.
🧹 Vacuum with a HEPA filter and damp mop to reduce indoor dust.
⚠️ Install and maintain carbon monoxide alarms, with at least one near bedrooms and preferably one on every floor.
⏱️ Limit time outdoors and consider rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.
😷 If you must be outside, reduce the amount of time you spend outdoors. A well-fitting N95 or equivalent respirator can help reduce exposure to wildfire smoke.
❤️ Check in on older adults, young children, pregnant people, those with chronic health conditions, and others who may be more vulnerable.

Taking a few simple steps can help protect you and your family while smoky conditions persist.

Yummmm... The strawberries are all ready for our big breakfast, celebrating Plattsville 175 Anniversary. We would like to send out a huge thank you to Pinehill Farms for hooking us up with these delicious fresh strawberries!!
