We need your help!

The Blandford-Blenheim Fire Department is proud to announce that we will be hosting Camp 85, a five-day youth fire service camp taking place in July 2026. This program is designed for young adults born between 2008 and 2012, with this year's focus dedicated to empowering young women to experience firefighting and skilled trades as accessible, rewarding, and impactful career paths within their communities.

The mission of Camp 85 is simple: to discover, educate, and empower the next generation of future fire professionals. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world exposure, participants will gain confidence, practical skills, and an understanding of the vital role the fire service plays in community safety.

The camp will be staffed entirely by our volunteer firefighters, who are committed to providing a safe, engaging, and educational experience. Camp 85 is offered at no cost to participants and is made possible through the generous support of community sponsors.

To maintain this amazing opportunity for our local youth, we are actively looking for sponsors!

Whether you sponsor as a individual or a company you will still receive a donation receipt.

Please share this post and help us ensure the continued growth of this truly outstanding program.

If you have any further questions or would like to make a donation, please reach out to any of your local firefighters or directly to Deputy Fire Chief, Michelle Van Wyk.

RIVER WATCH

Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected, locally higher amounts are possible in areas that receive thunderstorms.

When:
Beginning tonight and lasting through Wednesday.
Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected, causing localized flooding in low-lying areas and water pooling on roads is possible.
The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.
The heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rivers could get very swollen and flow very fast.

We would like to remind everyone of the dangers of fast moving water. With the slippery river banks, you or your pet could easily slip into the fast moving water with powerful currents.
Please stay a safe distance from the river's edge.

It's that time of year!!
March 8 at 2:00 am, we will turn our clocks forward one hour. This is a great day to change the batteries on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and test them when you change your clocks. Even if you have a hardwired or permanent battery alarm, this is a great time to test it. Test all alarms once a month. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation and never take the battery out for other uses or if the unit starts "chirping" or "beeping". Those intermittent noises are the unit trying to warn you of low battery or the ending of the alarm's life. This is also an ideal time to make sure you have a family escape plan in place and everyone in the household understands it.
