🎉 Félicitations au Sdt Vanderhoven! | Congratulations to Pte Vanderhoven!

Le 16 septembre dernier, le Sdt Vanderhoven a franchi une étape importante de son parcours en complétant avec succès la validation de sa formation en cours d’emploi (FCE) à la cuisine de la base.

Pour souligner cette réalisation, la Cmdte de la Cie Talon ainsi que le Sergent-major de la Cie Svc MLU 27-01 étaient présents et ont eu le plaisir de lui remettre sa promotion au grade de soldat (formé).

Un moment d’autant plus spécial puisque son père, l’Adj (ret) Vanderhoven, a également pu être présent et participer à sa validation.

🎉 Congratulations to Pte Vanderhoven!

On September 16, Pte Vanderhoven reached an important milestone by successfully completing the validation of his On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the Base Kitchen.

To mark the occasion, the Talon Company Commander and the Service Company Sergeant Major, MLU 27-01, were on hand to take part in the validation and present him with his promotion to Private (Trained).

The occasion was made even more meaningful by the presence of his father, WO (Ret’d) Vanderhoven, who also had the opportunity to participate in his validation.

🔥🏃‍♀️ Un défi relevé avec cœur et détermination!

Le Cplc Cassandra Sylvestre-Ravary a complété 4,4 km en 30 min 45 s, en tenue de pompier et avec près de 80 lb d’équipement, dans le cadre du Relais des pompiers 2026.

Au-delà de la performance, son objectif était surtout de soutenir la cause des grands brûlés et de repousser ses propres limites.

🔥🏃‍♀️ A challenge completed with heart and determination!

MCpl Cassandra Sylvestre-Ravary completed 4.4 km in 30 min 45 sec, wearing firefighter gear and carrying nearly 80 lb of equipment, as part of the 2026 Firefighters’ Relay.

Beyond the physical achievement, her goal was to support the burn survivor community and push her own limits.

🥾🇨🇦 LION IMPLACABLE | 8,5 KM DE COHÉSION ET DE DÉTERMINATION

Ce matin, les membres du 5e Bataillon des services du Canada ont pris part à une marche de 8,5 km dans le cadre de LION IMPLACABLE.

Cette activité a permis aux membres de repousser leurs limites tout en renforçant l’esprit d’équipe, la cohésion et la camaraderie qui unissent les membres du bataillon.

👏 Bravo à tous les participants pour leur détermination et leur engagement tout au long du parcours!

This morning, members of the 5th Canadian Service Battalion took part in an 8.5 km march as part of LION IMPLACABLE.

The activity gave members an opportunity to challenge themselves while strengthening the teamwork, cohesion and camaraderie that unite the battalion.

🏁 La Course du SMR 🏁

Les sous-officiers de l’unité ont récemment eu l’occasion de délaisser, le temps d’un après-midi, le rythme habituel des opérations pour participer à La Course du SMR, une activité de karting placée sous le signe de la camaraderie et de la compétition amicale. 🏎️💨

Cette activité a permis aux membres de se réunir dans un contexte différent, de profiter d’un moment de détente et surtout de renforcer la cohésion, l’esprit d’équipe et les liens entre les membres du leadership de l’unité.

Entre dépassements, chronos serrés et quelques rivalités amicales sur la piste, La Course du SMR aura surtout été une excellente occasion de partager un bon moment ensemble à l’extérieur du milieu de travail.

The unit’s Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) recently had the opportunity to step away from the usual operational tempo for an afternoon and take part in The SMR Race, a karting activity focused on camaraderie and friendly competition. 🏎️💨

The event gave members a chance to connect in a different environment, enjoy some well-deserved downtime, and most importantly, strengthen cohesion, teamwork, and the bonds within the unit’s leadership team.

Between overtakes, close lap times, and a few friendly rivalries on the track, The SMR Race was above all a great opportunity to share a good time together outside the workplace.
