Today marks the 6th annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today we wear orange. The orange shirt symbolizes the stripping away of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children across generations. It was inspired by the story of survivor Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at a residential school.

Annual General Meeting
Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
Trinity St. Andrew’s Church Hall
291 Plaunt Street South

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of CLRCS will be held at the date, time, and location set out above.

Purpose and Scope
The AGM will address only the business required under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 (ONCA). It will not be a forum for operational matters or labour-relations discussions.
Members, Voting, and Membership Applications
Current members in good standing will receive an AGM package and voting card upon arrival. Membership application forms will also be available. Applications will be reviewed and accepted in accordance with the CLRCS bylaws, as outlined below.

CLRCS By-Laws Section 2 — Members
2.01 Membership Conditions
Subject to the articles, there shall be one class of members in the Corporation. Membership in the Corporation shall be available only to individuals interested in furthering the Corporation’s purposes and who have applied for and been accepted into membership in the Corporation by resolution of the Board or in such other manner as may be determined by the Board, except individuals employed by the Corporation or by other local associations with which the Corporation is affiliated. Each member shall be entitled to receive notice of, attend and vote at all meetings of the members of the Corporation.
2.02 Membership Fees
There shall be no fees payable or contributions required for membership in the Corporation except as determined by the Board. If the Board fixes a membership fee, members shall be notified in writing of the membership fees at any time payable by them, and if any are not paid within one calendar month of the membership renewal date, the members in default shall automatically cease to be members of the Corporation.
2.03 Termination of Membership
A membership in the Corporation is terminated when:
a. the member dies, or, in the case of a member that is a corporation, the corporation is dissolved;
b. a member fails to maintain any qualifications for membership described in the articles or by-laws;
c. the member resigns by delivering a written resignation to the chair of the Board of the Corporation in which case such resignation shall be effective on the date specified in the resignation;
d. the member is expelled in accordance with Section 2.04 or is otherwise terminated in accordance with the articles or by-laws;
e. the member’s term of membership expires;
f. at any time, the membership passes on a two-thirds vote to terminate the member’s membership; or
g. the Corporation is liquidated or dissolved under the Act.
Subject to the articles, upon any termination of membership, the rights of the member, including any rights in the property of the Corporation, automatically cease to exist.
2.04 Discipline of Members
The Board shall have authority to suspend or expel any member from the Corporation for any one or more of the following grounds:
a. violating any provision of the articles, by-laws, or written policies of the Corporation;
b. carrying out any conduct which may be detrimental to the Corporation as determined by the Board in its sole discretion;
c. for any other reason that the Board in its sole and absolute discretion considers to be reasonable, having regard to the purpose of the Corporation.
In the event that the Board determines that a member should be expelled or suspended from membership in the Corporation, the chair of the Board or such other officer as may be designated by the Board, shall provide fifteen (15) days’ notice of suspension or expulsion to the member and shall provide reasons for the proposed suspension or expulsion. The member may make written submissions to the chair of the Board, or such other officer as may be designated by the Board, in response to the notice received not less than five (5) days before the end of the fifteen (15) day-period. In the event that no written submissions are received by the chair of the Board, the chair of the Board, or such other officer as may be designated by the Board, may proceed to notify the member that the member is suspended or expelled from membership in the Corporation. If written submissions are received in accordance with this section, the Board may allow the member to make oral submissions to the Board. The Board will consider the written and oral submissions (if any) in arriving at a final decision and shall notify the member concerning such final decision. The Board’s decision shall be final and binding on the member, without any further right of appeal.

Meeting Conduct
CLRCS has zero tolerance for abusive or disruptive behaviour. Anyone engaging in such behaviour will be asked to leave the meeting. If the behaviour continues, the meeting will be adjourned.
