Today we’re shining a spotlight on an organization helping local youth build confidence, leadership and lifelong skills: the Tofield Branch of Nakoota Sea Cadets.
Open to youth ages 12 to 18, Nakoota Sea Cadets offers a free program where participants can explore seamanship, sailing, drill, naval ceremony, music, first aid, survival training and more. Through weekend camps, sports and fitness activities, community events, parades and summer camps across Canada, cadets gain hands-on experience while developing self-esteem, teamwork and confidence. Members can also take part in international exchanges, tall-ship experiences, national sailing regattas, band camps and summer employment opportunities.
The Claystone Community Grant is helping the Tofield Branch of Nakoota Sea Cadets make these enriching experiences more accessible to local youth.
