IMPORTANT COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE

One Arrow First Nation Leadership is advising community members that Cody Jr. Daniels remains wanted by the RCMP.

We have received information that he has been in the community, driving around and visiting residences. Unfortunately, some of these sightings were not reported to the RCMP until after he had already left.

We are asking all community members to take this situation seriously. Providing shelter, withholding information, or delaying reports regarding the whereabouts of individuals wanted by the RCMP continues to place our children, Elders, families, community members, and staff in unsafe situations.

If Cody Jr. Daniels is seen in the community, arrives at your residence, or visiting neighbouring homes, contact the RCMP immediately. Do not wait until he has left to report his whereabouts. Do not approach or confront him.

COMMUNITY SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

As Leadership continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of our members and staff, we are implementing the following precautionary measures. All evening programs will remain cancelled to reduce unnecessary travel and prevent children, youth, and families from being placed in potentially unsafe situations, particularly during evening hours. Security will be stationed at the community store entrance to support the safety of customers and staff. The community store will close earlier than usual to ensure employees have sufficient time to return home safely before dark.

We understand these precautions may cause inconvenience to families and community members. However, these decisions are being made with everyone’s safety as our highest priority.

Leadership is working closely with our Justice Manager, RCMP, Directors, and community security to coordinate safety measures, respond to concerns, and maintain a safe environment for our members and staff.

However, these efforts cannot succeed through Leadership, RCMP, and security alone.

Community safety requires the cooperation and responsibility of every member.

When individuals are allowed to move throughout our community without being reported, it creates unnecessary risks for innocent families, children, Elders, and employees who are simply trying to carry out their daily responsibilities.

We cannot continue placing our frontline staff and community members in unsafe situations because information is being withheld or reported too late.

We are asking everyone to report sightings and information immediately, not hours later or after an individual has already left the area. Timely reporting allows the RCMP to respond more effectively and helps prevent further incidents.

Leadership remains committed to working with the RCMP and our departments to protect our community. We also recognize that lasting community safety requires all of us to take responsibility and work together.

COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE: STORE CLOSED

One Arrow First Nation is advising community members that the store will remain closed for the rest of the day due to an incident in the community.

We are currently waiting for the RCMP to provide further information and a debrief regarding the situation. In the meantime, the safety of our members remains our priority, we are asking if anyone sees Cody Jr Daniels please call RCMP.

We are asking community members to limit unnecessary travel and remain indoors where possible until further information is available.

If you see any suspicious individuals, vehicles, or activity, please report it immediately:

Community safety requires all of us to work together. When incidents or suspicious activity are not reported, it can make it more difficult for the RCMP to respond and can allow unsafe situations to continue.

One Arrow First Nation: Voting Results

One Arrow First Nation Leadership would like to thank all members who took the time to participate in our community engagement sessions, attend the Band Meeting, and cast their vote in person or online.

We are pleased to share the results of the membership vote. The membership approved the Community Street Names, Land Use Plan, and One Arrow First Nation Membership Code.

For the Kikistikānaw Āti-nīkān Trust Interest Dollars Budget and Work Plan, the membership selected and approved Option 3, which directs that the full $2,082,544 in interest dollars be set aside for five years.

These decisions reflect the votes cast by our membership. We sincerely appreciate everyone who participated throughout the engagement and voting process, asked questions, provided feedback, and took the time to make their voice heard.

Thank you to our membership for your participation and involvement in decisions that will help guide One Arrow First Nation moving forward.

ONE ARROW FIRST NATION : MEMBER VOTE

Kikistikānaw Ati-nikan Interest Dollars: Options

Following our Member Engagement Meetings held in our community and urban locations over the last couple weeks, Leadership reviewed the feedback, recommendations, and priorities shared by our members regarding the use of the Kikistikānaw Ati-nikan Trust interest dollars.

From these discussions, common priorities were identified and used to develop three budget and work plan options for our membership to consider.

Members will be asked to vote and select ONE of the three options presented.

The three options reflect the feedback received throughout the engagement process and provide different approaches to allocating the available interest dollars toward the priorities identified by members.

The selected budget and work plan will guide how these funds are administered and must be completed within the required six-month timeframe.

We encourage all eligible members to carefully review Option 1, Option 2, and Option 3 before casting their vote.

This is an important decision for our Nation, and we thank everyone who participated in the engagement sessions, shared recommendations, guidance, and helped shape the options being presented.

Option 1

Invest the full $2,082,544 across identified community priorities: Post Secondary, Training, Youth, Elders, Economic Development, Cultural/ Cree Language, Agriculture and Community Engagement Support.

Option 2

Invest $1,082,544 in identified community priorities: Post Secondary, Training, Youth, Elders/Cultural, Economic Development and set aside $1,000,000 for five years.

Option 3

Set aside the full $2,082,544 for five years.

Voting is today at 6pm to 9pm. You can vote in person at the Elder’s Hall or you can vote on line with One Feather. Please review pictures.

We want to hear members’ priorities and ideas on how the interest dollars should be used. The feedback gathered through these engagements will help inform the proposed Work Plan and Budget.

One Arrow First Nation Membership Code:
Leadership will share the final draft and provide members with an opportunity to review it, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Street Names and Land Use Plan Amendment:
Information and recommendations gathered through previous Lands Department and Lands Portfolio engagement sessions will be shared with members.

The information and feedback gathered from our members throughout these engagements will be brought forward and shared at the One Arrow First Nation Band Meeting on September 25, 2026.

COMMUNITY SAFETY DEBRIEF: THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY

One Arrow First Nation Leadership would like to provide an update following the past four days of lockdowns and serious community safety concerns.

We can confirm that Shakobey Sanderson is now in RCMP custody. Accurate information provided by community members helped RCMP in their efforts. This demonstrates how important community cooperation, timely information, and witness statements can be when responding to serious safety situations.

We sincerely thank our community members, Security, EMT, Directors, and Director of Operations for their assistance, patience, and support throughout the past four days.

The past four days have shown that community involvement is essential to keeping everyone safe. When members report incidents immediately, share what they witnessed, and cooperate and provide statements to RCMP, situations can be addressed more quickly and safely.

Community members stepped forward because they were concerned for the safety of their children, Elders, families, neighbours, and the entire community. Members provided information, cooperated with RCMP, and helped support efforts to make our community safer.

Moving forward, we encourage anyone who witnesses a serious incident to continue providing accurate information and statements directly to RCMP. Every piece of information can help.

A safe community takes all of us. When we work together, communicate, cooperate, and look out for one another, we strengthen the safety of our entire Nation.

Again, thank you to our members for your understanding, patience, cooperation, and support throughout these difficult past four days.

COMMUNITY SAFETY UPDATE: LOCKDOWN LIFTED

One Arrow First Nation is advising community members that the community lockdown has now been lifted. However, we are asking everyone to continue taking extra precautions throughout the day.

Following yesterday’s incident, Shakobey Sanderson has not yet been located.

We ask community members to remain aware of their surroundings. If you see any suspicious vehicles, individuals, or activity, please do not approach or confront anyone. Contact the RCMP and provide any information you can safely observe.

If you have information regarding yesterday’s incident or the individual involved, please share it directly with the RCMP. Call 310-RCMP (7267). Even information that may seem small could be helpful to their investigation.

Keeping our community safe takes all of us working together. When something is happening, please report what you see and provide accurate information to the RCMP. By working together, we can help protect our children, youth, Elders, families, and the entire community.

Please continue to be cautious, look out for one another, and report suspicious activity to the RCMP. In an emergency, call 911.

URGENT COMMUNITY LOCKDOWN: SAFETY NOTICE

One Arrow First Nation is advising all community members that the community is being placed ON LOCKDOWN EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY due to a serious firearm-related safety concern.

We have received information that Shakobey Sanderson may be armed with fi****ms and may pose an immediate danger to the community. This information has been reported to law enforcement.

Please take this situation seriously. Remain inside your home, lock your doors and windows, keep children and youth indoors, and do not travel around the community unless absolutely necessary. Do not approach or attempt to confront any of the individuals.

We are asking everyone to cooperate fully with the RCMP as they work to locate the individuals and address this serious safety situation. If RCMP officers attend your residence and request to search your home or unit, including basements, crawl spaces, sheds, or other areas of the property, we encourage residents to cooperate where you consent to the search or where police have lawful authority to conduct it. Please follow officers’ safety directions and do not interfere with their investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shakobey Sanderson is asked to immediately contact 911 or 310-RCMP (7267). Please do not hide, shelter, transport, or assist individuals being sought by police.

This situation has gone beyond the actions of a few individuals. Community safety depends on all of us working together. Protecting or hiding individuals who may pose a serious danger can put innocent children, Elders, families, neighbours, and responding officers at risk.

Our priority is protecting our community. Please provide RCMP with accurate information and encourage anyone involved to cooperate with police.

The lockdown will remain in effect while this immediate safety threat is being addressed. Leadership will provide further updates as verified information becomes available.

If you see suspicious individuals, vehicles, or activity, do not approach. Call 911 immediately.

Please share this notice with your family and community members.
