You may have heard the term "low to mid acuity" in reference to the future residents of Sunnyside. In simple terms, this really just means they will have fewer significant needs that would impact their ability to remain successfully housed. We'll meet these needs with wrap-around supports that are customized to the individual resident.

Great question! Affordable housing provides low-cost housing options for individuals and families with limited income, focusing solely on making rent more manageable. Supportive housing, like the tiny homes at Sunnyside, combines affordable housing with additional services for people exiting homelessness. This could include things like counselling, financial literacy, job preparedness, life skills and more.

Great news! Saint John City Council unanimously approved the third reading of zoning amendments last night, clearing the way for the next stage of work for Sunnyside.

This housing will make a meaningful difference for people experiencing homelessness, providing needed stability. Safe, affordable, supportive housing opens doors for many other opportunities. Thank you to everyone who has voiced their support for the project so far!

The Sunnyside Tiny Home Community is one step closer to reality! Last night Saint John council voted unanimously in favour of rezoning the land for Sunnyside. We are thrilled with the outcome, and incredibly grateful for those who spoken up in favour of the project thus far.

Tune into CBC radio tomorrow morning at 7:50 to hear Alexya speak about the project and council's decision.

We will continue to engage with neighbours as development moves forward, and are looking forward to moving on to next steps!

We were pleased to present in front of the Saint John Planning and Advisory Council last evening on the proposed re-zoning of the land for the Sunnyside Tiny Home Community. Thank you to all those who presented and shared their valuable insights. Your contributions are what makes these discussions so impactful and important while bringing valuable insights to the conversation.

We’re excited to announce that the Planning and Advisory Committee has passed the motion! This is an important step forward, and together, we’re making great strides toward a better future for Saint John. Thank you for your continued support of this project and we look forward to updating you on the next phase.
