YWCA - Saint John YWCA exists to support and empower women – and their families – through advocacy and integrated services that foster independence, wellness, and equality.

The YWCA in Saint John was founded in February, 1870 – the first YWCA in Canada! Located in uptown Saint John on Germain Street, then Wellington Row, the YWCA has, for 145 years been championing and supporting local women. YWCA Moncton has been instrumental in supporting the work of YWCA in Saint John and ensuring our continued presence in the area. Our mission is to continue the legacy of empower

ing women – and their families – through advocacy and integrated services that foster independence, equity and wellness for all. Our ongoing work, and your support will help:



Ø young women living in poverty through economic empowerment programs targeting their unique needs



Ø … engage young men and boys in ending gender-based violence through co-gendered violence prevention programs and events



Ø … empower young women to become leaders in their own lives using a strength based assets approach to personal growth and development



Ø … raise the voice of Saint John women and girls through advocacy and collaboration at the local, provincial, and national level
