The YWCA in Saint John was founded in February, 1870 – the first YWCA in Canada! Located in uptown Saint John on Germain Street, then Wellington Row, the YWCA has, for 145 years been championing and supporting local women. Ø young women living in poverty through economic empowerment programs targeting their unique needs
Ø … engage young men and boys in ending gender-based violence through co-gendered violence prevention programs and events
Ø … empower young women to become leaders in their own lives using a strength based assets approach to personal growth and development
