The Federation is committed to honouring the Spirit and Intent of the Treaties as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of Treaties that were made with the First Nations more than a century ago.

FSIN AND FIRST NATIONS VETERANS’ ASSOCIATION MOURN TRAGIC LOSS AT CFB WAINWRIGHT

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and the FSIN Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans Association (SFNVA) extend their deepest condolences following the tragic loss of life at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta.

First Nations people have a long and proud history of military service. Today, the FSIN and SFNVA stand with the Canadian Armed Forces, the families who have lost loved ones, those who were injured, and all those affected by this tragedy. The relationship between Saskatchewan First Nations and CFB
Wainwright spans generations. For more than three decades, the FSIN and SFNVA have worked alongside the Canadian Armed Forces through the Bold Eagle Program, bringing First Nations youth, Veterans, Elders and military members together at Wainwright through culture, training and service.

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations extends its deepest condolences to the family, community, and loved ones of Chief Sylvia We**ie.

Chief We**ie served with distinction as Chief of Stoney Knoll First Nation and was a respected leader within the Battlefords Agency Tribal Council and Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations. Her leadership, wisdom, and commitment strengthened her Nation and uplifted First Nations across Saskatchewan.

She now joins her husband, Chief Ben We**ie, in the Spirit World. Together, they built a legacy of service, strength, and dedication to their people.

Chief Sylvia We**ie was a matriarch, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, whose guidance shaped generations. Her influence will continue to resonate through her family, her Nation, and all those who were touched by her work.

We honour her life, her leadership, and the lasting impact she leaves behind. May the Creator welcome her home, and may her loved ones find comfort in the legacy she carried with such dignity.

Every Child Matters. Today. Tomorrow. Always.

Today, we wear orange to honour the children who never came home, the survivors who carry the truths of their experiences, and the families and communities forever impacted by the residential school system. But our commitment cannot end with one day of recognition.

We honour the courage of survivors who have shared their stories and entrusted us with their truths. Their voices continue to guide us toward understanding, accountability, healing, and reconciliation.

Denialism has no place in this journey. The truths have been spoken. Our responsibility is to listen, learn, acknowledge the past, and stand in unwavering support of survivors, their families, and their communities.

Today, take action. Learn the history. Listen to survivors. Challenge misinformation and denialism when you encounter it. Support Indigenous voices, initiatives, and communities. Reconciliation requires more than remembrance. It requires action.

A heartfelt thank you to the FSIN staff and volunteers who spent the day out on the streets caring for our relatives.
This post is about bringing awareness to the reality that so many of our people are facing every day. Together, we handed out lunch bags, blankets, to***co, and water, serving more than 200 relatives in need. We could have helped many more if we had additional supplies.

The need is great. Many of our relatives are struggling and simply need warm, clean clothing and basic necessities to get through the day.

To everyone who helped, thank you for showing compassion, kindness, and respect. Every meal, blanket, bottle of water, and conversation mattered.
If you are able, please consider donating what you can—especially men's clothing, jackets, socks, and other essentials.

A small act of kindness can make a world of difference to someone who is struggling.

Our relatives matter. Let's continue to look after one another.
