We are pleased to welcome Katie Wright as the Interim Marketing and Program Coordinator for the City of Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development team. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Newcastle University and brings a decade of experience in marketing and events management.

Katie coordinates the Summer Company Program, Bridges to Better Business, and regular workshops for Sault Ste. Marie’s business owners and entrepreneurs. She also facilitates the Millworks start-up and co-working space.

🗓️ Mark your calendars for the Community Job Fair on February 3rd from 3:00 - 7:00pm. Be sure to visit our Director of Economic Development at the City of Sault Ste. Marie booth!

We are hosting a Community Job Fair on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at GFL Memorial Gardens. This job fair will provide immediate employment support to those affected by the recent layoffs at Algoma Steel and is also open to the public.

Local and regional employers will be on site, actively hiring across multiple sectors, with recruiters accepting résumés and discussing current and upcoming opportunities.

Attention Sault Ste. Marie businesses and non-profits: Employer applications for the Canada Summer Jobs program are now open until December 11, 2025, at 11:59 pm (Pacific Standard Time)

Who can apply:
Employers from not-for-profit organizations and the public sector, as well as private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees

What this program offers:
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) provides wage subsidies to support employers to create quality summer work experiences for youth aged 15 to 30 years

Funding amount:
Not-for-profit employers can receive funding for up to 100% of the provincial or territorial minimum wage and public and private sector employers are eligible to receive funding for up to 50%
