Ever wonder what would happen if there was a big fire or other emergency on the coast?

The Sunshine Coast Regional District recently developed an Emergency Plan for the Coast including our area.

The EDVFD Society has organized to have Erin Wilson, from the SCRD’s Emergency Preparedness Program come to the Egmont Community Hall on June 7th to share key information from the plan.

All community members are welcome to join this free information session.

We hope to see you there.

EDVFD responded to a call at Roland's point on the Skookumchuck trail last night. Great mutual aid response between Fire, SAR and Ambulance, working well together to get the patient out smoothly and keep information flowing between all 3 organizations.
Big thanks to all that responded to a long and difficult extraction.

Last night SCSAR worked with the Egmont & District Volunteer Fire Department to extract an injured hiker from the end of the Skookumchuck Narrows trail. They were brought out by stretcher and handed over to BCEHS for transport to the hospital. Thanks to the Egmont Fire Fighters and BCEHS for the great work.

The Provincial Coastal Fire Centre has advised that as of noon on Wednesday, August 28, the campfire ban is being lifted for the Sunshine Coast.

Even though the ban is being lifted, Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) Fire Chiefs are asking for continued diligence, particularly with dry weather in the forecast should you be considering having a campfire. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that burning is done in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with regulations.
