In case you missed it: A recent front-page story in The Community Press shared the remarkable rescue of a young farmhand trapped in a canola bin near Lougheed.

The story is a powerful reminder of why training, teamwork and specialized rescue equipment matter. Firefighters from the Hardisty and Killam stations responded, along with EMS and Killam/Viking RCMP, to help bring the young man to safety.

We are grateful this incident had a safe outcome, and proud of the firefighters who put their training into action when it mattered most.

Thank you to everyone involved in the response, and to those who shared this story as an important reminder about grain safety.

In case you missed it: A proud moment for FRESS was recently featured in The Community Press, with 25 local firefighters recognized for completing their 1001 Firefighter Level 1 training course.

Over five months, students from every station in the Flagstaff Region completed online modules and monthly practical training. The final weekend, held in Hanna, included live fire training, exercises and the provincial written exam.

Congratulations to all 25 firefighters on this important achievement, and thank you to the lead instructors and assistant instructors who helped guide this dedicated group through the process.

The commitment, teamwork and determination shown by these firefighters is something our entire region can be proud of. đźš’
