Workforce development discussions kick off in Burin

Yesterday, a Workforce Development Roundtable was held in Gander, and two more are planned for tomorrow in Grand Falls-Windsor and Milltown-Head of Bay d'Espoir on Friday. If you'd like to attend or share input on the sessions, please email [email protected].

Thank you to all participants to date who have shared valuable insights on the labour market challenges and opportunities facing them and their communities. Input collected at these sessions will be used to inform program priorities, and will be publicly communicated through the Annual Report of the Population Growth Strategy.

The Strategic Health Workforce Plan, just released yesterday, will focus on building quality workplaces, establishing appropriate workforce supply, strengthening workforce capacity, enhancing leadership and management, and maintaining robust planning and evidence!

Health and Community Services Minister Steve Kent unveiled a strategic plan Monday aimed at ensuring there is a skilled and plentiful supply of health workers in Newfoundland and Labrador long into the future.

Apprenticeship Mobility Agreement Supports Population Growth

This weekend, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador took the first of many tangible steps to implement the Population Growth Strategy.

Policy Action 19 under the Workforce Development Action Plan committed to "pursue further apprenticeship harmonization to
improve the labour mobility of apprentices and
increase completion rates".

One key step to fulfill this commitment has been taken through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding on apprentice mobility by the Council of Atlantic Premiers.
