Less traffic doesn’t mean more speed!

At 10:05 pm, Headingley RCMP clocked a vehicle going 170 in a 100 zone in the RM of MacDonald. The 19-year-old driver from Morris was fined $966 and a Serious Offence Noticed was issued.

There is never a reason to drive that speed, slow down and help keep Manitoban roads safe for everyone.

On Sept. 29, at approximately 2:10 p.m., RCMP Traffic Services pulled over an eastbound semi-truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Elie.

While speaking to the semi’s two occupants, RCMP noted a package of unmarked ci******es on the dashboard – prompting further inspection of the vehicle. Officers then located a package amongst groceries that contained approximately $50,000 in cash.

The two suspects were arrested without incident.

A 38-year-old male from Hannon, Ont. and a 53-year-old male from Mississauga, Ont., both face charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Their names cannot be shared until charges are sworn.

The two were released on an appearance notice, with a court date scheduled for January.

The investigation continues.

Headingley RCMP respond to a three-vehicle collision

On September 29, 2026, at 6:50 am, Headingley RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision with injuries on Highway 3, just south of Sanford.

Officers arrived on scene, observed three vehicles heavily damaged and debris all over the highway. A total of seven occupants were being treated by medical personnel and were all transported to hospital.

It is believed that a minivan travelling north on Highway 3 collided with an SUV travelling south. Seconds later, a smaller SUV travelling north collided with the vehicles blocking the highway.

In the minivan were a 36-year-old male driver, a 34-year-old female and a 3-year-old male all from Plum Coulee. The female and the child suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In the SUV, a 48-year-old female from Winnipeg was the lone occupant and also suffered from serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In the third vehicle, the driver, a 36-year-old female and her two children, ages 6 and 8, all suffered from minor injuries.

It appears that heavy fog at the time of the collision may have been a contributing factor.

Headingley RCMP respond to fatal collision near Sanford

On September 22, 2026, at 5:07 am, Headingley RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a SUV at the intersection of Highway 3 and PR 334, in the RM of Macdonald.

Officers responded and learned that the semi-truck was travelling east on Highway 3 when it collided with an SUV that was travelling south on PR 334.

The driver of the SUV, a 62-year-old male from Sanford, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 58-year-old male from Morden, was treated for minor-non-life-threatening injuries.

Headingley RCMP, along with the Manitoba Traffic Services, continue to investigate.

Headingley RCMP arrest impaired female after tip from citizen

On September 8, 2026, at 10:54 p.m.., Headingley RCMP received a report of an erratic driver travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway near Headingley.

Officers immediately began patrols and located the vehicle on Portage Avenue near McGuckin Road. The vehicle was observed by officers swerving and unable to stay in its lane as it continued to travel east.

A traffic stop was attempted by police, but the vehicle did not pull over. The vehicle was travelling at a slow rate of speed and continued to display erratic behaviour.

Shortly after, police engaged with lights and sirens and the vehicle stopped at the side of the road. Once the officer stepped out of their vehicle, the suspects departed at a slow rate of speed.

Police were then able to safely block the path of the vehicle, to which only minor damage was done to both vehicles.

The driver, a 35-year-old female from Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation, was arrested and charged with:
• Operation while impaired;
• Operation while equal to or exceeds 80 mg%; and
• Flight from peace officer.

The female was released on an appearance notice.
