Thank you to our amazing Downie Dolphins for supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Together, we raised $700.00 online and $136.00 for pie-in-the-face tickets, for an incredible total of $836.00! Thank you to our Intermediate Game and Team Leaders for organizing the fun-filled day and to our staff volunteers who took a pie in the face for a great cause. Way to go, Dolphins.

Congratulations to the Winners of the Downie Central Public School Kindness & Integrity Poster Contest 2026! 🎉
This year's poster contest challenged students to creatively explore the themes of Kindness and Integrity through hand-drawn, full-colour artwork.

Integrity means being strong enough to do what you know is right—even when it's difficult and even when no one is watching. Kindness is showing care and compassion toward yourself and others and making a positive difference in the lives of those around you. Together, these values help build a caring, connected, and respectful school community.

We were incredibly impressed by the creativity, thoughtfulness, and artistic talent demonstrated by all participants. Thank you to every student who submitted a poster and shared their vision of kindness and integrity.

The Downie Dolphins had a great time showing their school spirit by dressing as twins today! From matching outfits to coordinated accessories, students had lots of fun teaming up with friends and staff for Twin Day. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, laughter, and school spirit throughout the halls!

On Monday April 27, 2026, students from Ms. Hildenbrand’s Grade 4/5 class, along with Vanni from UTRCA, Sue Orr (Mayor of Perth South and Perth County Deputy Warden), community volunteers, Downie School Council volunteers and parent volunteers, planted 53 trees (30 White Cedar and 23 Norway Spruce) along the Sideroad 125 side of our school. They were planted there to begin to grow a windbreak to eventually help block those strong winds we get blowing across our school yard. The grant was provided by the Perth County Stewardship Program. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who came to help us that morning and to Perth County for the opportunity to apply for the grant.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Tremblett's Your Independent Grocer for sponsoring the popcorn 🍿 and supplies at our Glow Dance and Games Night last week. We are deeply appreciative of the community we live in and the staff at the Independent who consistently demonstrate their willingness to support our school. Everyone in attendance at our event was able to enjoy a bag of popcorn and a drink, with many even returning for seconds, and the floured toppings proved to be a resounding success!
