⚠️ Overnight work on Segment 9 of the Connecting Link is scheduled tonight (August 31) - Sept. 3. to install a watermain and complete storm infrastructure.

Tonight, crews will be closing Brunette Rd. south of the Algonquin Blvd. intersection.

Time: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Road closed signs will be placed at Second Ave., local traffic only. Full road closure south of the Algonquin Blvd.

Vehicles will be detoured down Spruce St. S. to Second Ave. Watch for traffic control signs.

Beginning Sept. 1 - Sept. 3, work will shift to the north side of Brunette. We will post an update with a reminder and road closure points.

📍 Pop over to our Voter's List Pop-Up on Monday at the Porcupine Mall!

We understand that not everyone can hit up City Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., so we're giving you MORE ways to check the voter's list before September 2.

We'll be set-up at the Porcupine Mall this Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. If you have moved, changed your name, or need to verify that you're on the Voter's List, we can help!

Changes must be made in person with acceptable I.D. Check the 2026 Voter’s Guide for accepted forms of identification: www.timmins.ca/our_services/municipal_elections

This is great news as students get back to class! 🚌

While school bus transportation is not a City of Timmins service, we did meet with the Consortium Transport EnRoute Consortium earlier this week to talk about how the City could assist, if necessary.

We are not responsible for school bus routes, schedules, operations, cancellations, or service updates, but we do try to proactively work with the local school boards and transportation partners by communicating municipal services that may impact school bus service, like roads, construction, and traffic management.

We’re happy the buses will be back on the road and students will be back to school. Remember to watch for more pedestrians, bikes, and buses near school zones. Be safe! Happy Back to School!

🚌🎉 Great news for the start of school!

The Transport EnRoute Consortium is pleased to confirm that school transportation service will begin on the first day of school, September 1, 2026!

Our teams and transportation providers are actively completing the final preparations to welcome students aboard.

We sincerely thank families for their patience and understanding over the past few weeks. We look forward to seeing students and wish everyone an excellent start to the school year!

Today, Public Works (Roads) is:
- grading Shirley, Jaguar N., Government N., Caron, and Gibson Lake Rd.
- pouring sidewalks on Lavigne and Main St. at Moore (South Porcupine)
- completing a drainage ditch on Pine S.
- repairing potholes in multiple areas
- maintenance sweeping
- paving on St-Jean
- picking up litter (Timmins and downtown Timmins)
- paving in Porcupine and South Porcupine
- prepping for asphalt in South Porcupine
- cutting grass and the College Trail

Traffic Dept. is:
- painting pavement markings at Ross and T**e

Distribution and Collection is:
- performing multiple water service valve maintenance activities
- investigating low-pressure calls and completing locates
- completing the weekly sanitary flushing

Timmins’ own Jadyn Weltz has signed her first professional basketball contract with the Caledonia Gladiators, Scotland’s only professional basketball team.

This fall, she’ll head across the Atlantic to hit the hardwood at the club’s own arena in East Kilbride, just outside Glasgow.

Congratulations, Jadyn! Canada gave the world basketball … go give Scotland a reminder!

- repairing retaining wall, guardrails, and road ends in South Porcupine
- repairing potholes on Hwy. 67 (Municipal Rd.)
- assisting with a water service repair on Cherry
- completing a culvert on Pine St. S.
- removing forms on Ross Ave. at T**e
- repairing lawns from utility cuts
- paving on on Second, Waterloo, Gatineau, Hemlock, and Brousseau
- picking up litter (Schumacher, South Porcupine, Timmins, and downtown Timmins)

Distribution & Collection is:
- backfilling a water service repair
- performing two hydrant repairs
- excavating a water service valve on Cherry
- hydro-excavating a road leveler on Hwy. 101 E
