Meet Chocolate🐾

From afternoon naps to endless cuddles, Chocolate has been a steady source of comfort and companionship for Iris since she was just a few months old. Her gentle personality is a reminder of how much pets can bring to our lives. Not just joy, but routine, connection, and a sense of home.

When Chocolate needed veterinary care, including wellness checkups and support for food sensitivities, St. Felix Centre's PAWS program helped make that care possible. Access to veterinary services can make all the difference, helping people experiencing homelessness keep the companions they love healthy and by their side.

Because no one should have to choose between their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of their best friend. 🧡

Behind every great community initiative is someone with a vision. And for this year’s FIFA Experience, that was Israel. 💙

Inspired by the power of football to bring people together, Israel led an initiative that transformed World Cup matchdays into opportunities for connection, cultural exchange, and community.

In this video, Israel reflects on the inspiration behind the FIFA Experience, the moments that stood out most, and why creating opportunities like this matters.

Thank you, Israel, for bringing your creativity, leadership, and passion to an experience our guests won’t soon forget. ⚽

Football has a special way of bringing people together, no matter where they're from.

Throughout the FIFA Experience, guests gathered to watch World Cup matches, celebrate the teams they supported, and enjoy the tournament alongside one another.

The shared excitement, friendly competition, and conversations that happened between kickoffs helped create a welcoming atmosphere and strengthened the sense of community within the shelter.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the FIFA Experience a memorable part of this year's World Cup. ⚽💙

LOVE Week brought a little extra energy to St. Felix Centre! 💙

As part of Elevation Church’s annual LOVE Week, volunteers joined us for a day of community, connection, and giving back.

The team fired up the BBQ at our 629 Adelaide shelter, spending time with guests and sharing a meal together.

A big thank you to Elevation Church for showing up with such enthusiasm and for continuing to be part of the St. Felix Centre community. We’re grateful for every volunteer who brings their time, skills, and positive energy to our spaces. 💙

As part of Elevation Church’s annual LOVE Week, volunteers joined us at St. Felix Centre to put their love into action through service and community support.

The team spent time helping support our programs and bringing their energy and compassion to the people we serve. This visit also marked a special milestone as they became the first volunteer group to support the kitchen at Hope House.

We’re grateful for Elevation Church’s continued partnership and for the many ways their volunteers show up to help create spaces of care, connection, and belonging for our guests. 💙

Today is World Hepatitis Day, a day to raise awareness about Hepatitis C, the importance of testing, and the need for accessible healthcare for all.

Yesterday, we welcomed the team from South Riverdale Community Health Centre (SRCHC) to 69 Fraser, where guests had the opportunity to receive free Hepatitis C testing in a comfortable and familiar space. Guests also enjoyed fresh haircuts, creating a day centered around care, connection, and wellbeing.

Bringing health services directly into community spaces helps make care easier to access and removes barriers that can prevent people from seeking support.

Thank you to South Riverdale Community Health Centre for partnering with us and helping make healthcare more welcoming for our community ♥️

Guests at our Adelaide shelter recently spent the afternoon tie-dyeing T-shirts and tote bags, turning everyday items into something uniquely their own 🎨

Activities like these are an important part of building a welcoming environment.

Whether it’s art, games, or shared experiences, they create moments for guests to connect with one another, express themselves, and simply enjoy the day💙

Meet Iris and Chocolate🐾

A lover of animals, a free spirit, and someone who finds joy in the little things, Iris is a guest at our 69 Fraser shelter. By their side is Chocolate, who has been a constant source of comfort through life’s ups and downs.

Their story is a reminder that home isn’t just a place. It’s also the relationships that help us feel safe, seen, and loved 💙

Thank you to the Toronto Community Crisis Service for donating 15 bags of dog food to support guests and their pets at St. Felix Centre. 🐾

When William from TCCS stopped by with the donation, he talked about how important it is that people experiencing homelessness have access to shelter options where their pets are welcome. For many of our guests, their pets are family, offering comfort, companionship, and unconditional support through some of life’s most difficult moments.

Too often, people with pets face difficult choices when seeking shelter, with limited options that allow them to stay together. As William shared, many people would rather remain outside than be separated from their beloved animals.

At St. Felix Centre, we know that pets are family. We’ve always believed in keeping people and their pets together, and we remain committed to ensuring our guests don’t have to choose between a safe place to stay and the companions they love.

Last week, our annual summer tradition became another opportunity to bring people together. Guests, neighbours, local businesses, and even our Toronto Police Service’s Mounted Unit stopped by to enjoy a sweet treat, share a conversation, and learn more about the work happening every day at St. Felix Centre.

We’re grateful for days like these that create space for connection, reduce stigma, and remind our community that everyone deserves to feel welcomed and included.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and
helped make the day one to remember 💙
