What kind of impact can your work have? 🌱

45 years ago, Benedykt Hewelt arrived at St. Paul’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident in Vancouver Harbour. Care teams acted quickly, performing complex surgery and supporting his recovery, which included learning how to walk again.

Recently, at age 95, he returned to St. Paul’s Hospital with his family to say thank you:
“I was able to come home again to my wife and my children.”

Benedykt's story is a powerful reminder that the effect of providing compassionate care doesn’t end when a patient is discharged — it can stay with someone for the rest of their life.

Such outcomes are made possible by the dedication of teams that come together in critical moments, supporting patients through recovery and staying committed even when progress can be slow and uncertain.

At Providence Health Care, moments like this reflect the kind of work happening across our teams every day — where every role plays a meaningful part in the care patients receive.

If you're looking to be part of a collaborative team where your work helps improve lives and creates meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Reimagining long-term care — one household at a time. 🏡

At Youville Residence, we’ve opened a new six-person household designed to feel like home, where relationships, choice, and dignity are at the center of care.

This innovative model is part of Providence Health Care’s broader commitment to transforming seniors’ care, moving away from institutional routines and toward more personalized, flexible, and meaningful daily living for residents.

It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when care teams, residents, and families come together to rethink how we support people to live a “day well lived.”

This , we’re celebrating what matters most: giving nurses the time and support to provide the care they know is possible 💙

At Providence Health Care in Vancouver, Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) are already making a difference — creating safer workloads, stronger teamwork, and more meaningful time with patients.

For nurses like Jessica and Laura, it’s not just about numbers. It’s about being able to truly connect, advocate, and deliver care the right way.

“This is what nursing is supposed to feel like.”

25 years of community, care, and connection 💙

We’re proud to celebrate a quarter century of Providence in the Park — our biannual community outreach event — marking an incredible 25 years of showing up for the communities we serve.

Last week at Oppenheimer Park, volunteers from across our organization came together to build relationships, provide care services, and distribute essential personal care items. It was a meaningful day rooted in compassion, connection, and purpose.

In the lead-up to this milestone, our teams also organized a community shoe drive, collecting an incredible 500 pairs of shoes to support those in need. 👟

A sincere thank you to our volunteers, donors, partners, and sponsors who continue to make this event possible year after year.

Inspired by this work? If you’re passionate about making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

From the ground up — and now, above it 🏗️

We’ve reached an exciting milestone at the Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC) at the new St. Paul’s Hospital campus.

The final Level 1 slab pour is now complete, marking the end of the below-grade concrete structure and the beginning of a new phase as the building starts to rise.

From here, progress becomes even more visible as the CSRC moves vertically toward the future health campus skyline.

By the numbers:
🔹 10,000+ m³ of concrete placed to date
🔹 22,000 m³ planned through structural completion
🔹 240,000+ workforce hours supporting progress

This milestone reflects the incredible collaboration, commitment, and expertise of our project partners as we continue building critical health care infrastructure for our community.

🎥 Take a look at the journey so far in our latest construction reel.

At Providence, we’re not just building spaces — we’re building the future of care, research, and innovation in British Columbia.
