The 1st Cdn Div provides task-tailored, deployable, joint headquarters at advanced states of readiness to command and control joint, interagency, and multinational forces, at home and abroad.

On the 112th anniversary of the 1st Canadian Division, we gathered for a Sunset Ceremony to honour our history and mark the beginning of a new chapter.

For 16 years, we have proudly served under the 1st Canadian Division banner, worn its iconic red patch, and carried forward the legacy of the Red Devils.

As part of Canadian Army modernization, the 1st Canadian Division name and flag will return to the Army. It has been an honour to serve under this distinguished name and contribute to its proud legacy.

As we look to the future, we expect to become the Canadian Joint Response Force Headquarters, pending final approval.

To all Red Devils, past and present, thank you for your service, dedication, and commitment.

Training for anywhere – right here in Canada. 🇨🇦

The Canadian Armed Forces and Global Affairs Canada has completed Exercise READY RENAISSANCE, an annual exercise that prepares high-readiness personnel to deploy on humanitarian disaster response missions worldwide.

While typically conducted in partner nations such as Jamaica, Ex READY RENAISSANCE 2026 took place on home soil in Labrador, reflecting an increased focus on Canada’s North and providing an ideal environment to simulate real-world conditions.

Thank you to the communities of Goose Bay, Cartwright, North West River, and Muskrat Falls for their hospitality and support in making this training a success.

The Red Devils welcomed their new Division Sergeant-Major and bid farewell to their outgoing Sergeant-Major at the Kingston Garrison Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess on the 8th of May. Chief Warrant Officer Donovan Crawford handed the pace stick to Chief Warrant Officer Dominic Lapointe and signed over the responsibilities as 1st Canadian Division Sergeant-Major. The Red Devils wish Chief Warrant Officer Crawford all our best in his new position as Command Chief Warrant Officer of Canadian Joint Forces Command and look forward to working with Chief Warrant Officer Lapointe as the newest Red Devil!

After a super-busy Autumn, the Red Devils got in the festive spirit with the Holidays around the corner. There was mirth! There was frivolity! There was charity! Best of all for the Chief of Staff, he and his team won the Horse-Head Trophy – rather than the other trophy – at the Christmas hockey game. With Red Devils settling in for the Holidays, we wish all our friends, family and former Red Devils all the best of the Holiday season and the New Year!
