🏛️ Government 101: Who does what?
With the 2026 Municipal Election approaching, here is a quick guide to who handles what in Ingersoll!

Federal Government: Canada 🍁
Key Services: Immigration, Military, National Parks, Income Tax, and Indigenous Affairs

Provincial Government: Ontario 🏥
Key Services: Healthcare, Education, Highways, and Natural Resources

Municipal Government: Town of Ingersoll and Oxford County 🏡
In our area, municipal services are shared between two partners...

Oxford County: Handles large-scale regional services like Paramedic Services, Social Services (housing/childcare), Regional Roads, Libraries, Water, Wastewater, and Waste Management.

Town of Ingersoll 👋: Handles immediate community needs such as Fire Services, Local Parks, Recreation, Snow Removal, and Building Permits.

Why Town Council Matters📣
The Town of Ingersoll is your most local level of government.
Your Mayor and Council members represent the public and consider the well-being and interests of the community as a whole. They also help develop and evaluate the municipality's policies and programs, and determine which services the municipality provides.

Knowing the difference means getting your questions answered by the right people!
