Electricity prices could skyrocket by as much as $460 per household in Alberta because of Meta’s new AI data centre.

Danielle Smith’s solution? She told Albertans to lock in a power rate.

The cost of living is already out of control in this province. It is irresponsible for the Premier to bring in massive data centres without knowing exactly how much they will cost Albertans, or whether the benefits are even worth it.

Asking Albertans to simply pay more is not a solution.

The Alberta NDP has called for a pause on new data centre approvals until a fair and robust framework is in place. Albertans deserve a government that does its homework, understands the costs and benefits, and makes responsible decisions that put Albertans first.

Elaine Warren-Blais was my constituent. Her husband called 911 at 4:53 am. The ambulance didn’t arrive for 84 minutes. Elaine died that morning.

Albertans are dying waiting for access to healthcare. Waiting for ambulances, in the ER, and for surgery & treatment. There are real people being affected by the UCP’s failure.

All Elaine’s family wants is for this not to happen again. That’s what we all want.

My deepest condolences to Guy, Mona and all of Elaine’s family and friends.

If you want your ballots mailed to you (and you're committed to mailing them back!) be aware that the deadline for requests is now Sept 25.

2026 REFERENDUM - Deadline to Apply for Special Ballots Changed to September 25

This is to ensure electors can receive and return their special ballots to Elections Alberta’s Edmonton offices by mail by the legislated deadline, 5:00pm on October 16, 2026.
