Carmel, California, 2009
This picture means so much to me. When I took it, I was sure that this would become the most touching and memorable message ever in our peace banner. God bless Dr. Ratcliffe the great man who is writing for us. To know who he was, just read the words between me and her daughter Patrishia a year after we visited him and their family in Carmel:
"Hi Dear Patrishia"
I am sure that you remember Nasim and Jafar
Your Iranian friends who love you and your family so much
today I was thinking of your father. I remember that he loved to visit our country. I never forget the time we said goodbye to him. His face was full of love and peace while he was running behind us with tears in his inspiring eyes.
I love your and his hand in this picture and really hope to see you again and would love to have you here in Iran.
We think of you and love you so much
Your Iranian sister, Nasim
"Dearest Nasim"
What you wrote about my father touches my heart with such sweetness. Yes, I can picture his crinkled, wrinkled smiling eyes too. I must tell you that he died in November, 2009, after he fell down and hit his head. He was in a coma for a few days, and then he passed on very peacefully. I know that you made him feel such light and love and inspiration in the short visit you had with us. Thank you for bringing such beauty and goodness into his life....into my life, my other family members' and friends' lives...and into all of the lives you touched on your Peace Ride!
Please write and tell me all about you and Jafar. I am so happy to hear from you again, my DEAREST SISTER, NASIM!!!!!!!
with so MUCH LOVE,
Patty, Carmel, California 2011
