How do fares support your transit system? Fares are crucial to funding transit services across Durham Region. They help expand service, improve infrastructure, and make the system more accessible, inclusive, and easier to use for everyone. Use PRESTO to save money and get the most out of your trips.

🚲 Bike with us! Did you know? All DRT buses are equipped with bike racks that hold up to two bicycles? Here is how to use them:

Before the bus arrives: Remove any loose items from your bike.

When the bus arrives: Once the bus comes to a complete stop, signal to the bus operator, then lower the rack, place your bike in the slot closest to the bus, and secure it using the support arm.

Getting off the bus: Let the operator know, remove the support arm and your bike, and fold the rack up if it is empty.

Reliable transit keeps our communities moving, connecting people to work, school, health care and each other.

Today, Durham Region joined federal and provincial partners to announce support through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for Durham Region Transit.

This summer, 10 new diesel buses will hit the road and investments in smarter tools will improve efficiency behind the scenes.

Building on 2023 funding, this is part of a bigger vision for transit including the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit project, stronger local connections, expanded GO access, and new facilities to support a growing fleet.

Thank you to Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Jennifer McKelvie; Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks, The Honourable Todd McCarthy; MPP for Whitby Lorne Coe and Regional Chair and CEO John Henry, for speaking at today’s announcement, and to MP for Whitby Ryan Turnbull, Durham mayors, Regional Councillors and staff for joining us today.

We appreciate both the Federal and Provincial governments' shared commitment to building a modern, reliable transit system that meets today’s needs and prepares for tomorrow.
