The Inspiring Business Program promotes West Hants Businesses who contribute to a strong and vibrant West Hants!
This program marries the Support Local movement with businesses who also supports our community: We want to celebrate those businesses who invest in our community’s vibrancy through donation, fundraising, sponsorship, community drives, volunteering, etc!

Our next West Hants Inspiring Business is D & W Swinimers Take Out And Deli, located in Garlands Crossing!

Tracy and Jake Church have been operating D & W Swinimers Take Out and Deli for 26 years. Over the years, they have become a staple in the community, known for their friendly service and great food.

Their commitment to giving back extends far beyond their business. Each Christmas, D & W Swinimers quietly support five local families by providing a full holiday meal along with extra groceries. They do this anonymously, simply because they love helping others. Whether through donations, sponsorships, fundraising efforts, or acts of kindness like these, they are always looking for ways to make a positive impact. Their generosity, community spirit, and dedication to supporting others make them a truly inspiring local business and a valued part of the West Hants community.

Whether you're craving one of the best ice cream cakes around, a delicious donair, a fresh deli sandwich, homemade nachos, or a classic grilled cheese, D & W has something for everyone. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch, dine in at their seating area, or order delivery when you're on the go.

Many residents also know D & W as the go-to place when the power goes out, offering essentials and a welcoming place to stop in. As summer approaches, be sure to put D & W Swinimers at the top of your list when you're looking to cool down with a delicious ice cream treat or order supper on a hot day when it's too warm to cook.

Not only is D & W a one-stop shop for many of your needs, but D & W Swinimers are also dedicated supporters of the community.
Thank you D & W Swinimers Take Out and Deli for all you’ve done to support our community through donations to groups such as:

Walton Shore Fire Department
Brooklyn Fire Department Auxiliary
Tracy's Place
Three Mile planes District School
Royal Canadian Legion Hants County Branch 9
Rotary club of Windsor
Hants Sno-dusters
Jim’s Taekwon-Do

The West Hants Day of Caring will take place on Saturday May 30th, 2026 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the West Hants Sports Complex, 16 Centennial Drive.

This event is for people who are unhoused, at risk of being unhoused, or low-income individuals & families, or those who face other barriers to access services (such as employment hours that prevent you from getting to some of these services)

It will bring together a range of helpful community & government services and supports in one welcoming space, offering community members a chance to connect with resources that may be beneficial to them.

Please help us spread the word! See you this Saturday!

Thank you to Service Canada, West Hants Regional Municipality, West Hants-Uniacke Community Health Board, and all other service providers and volunteers who have helped bring this event to life!
