THANK YOU !
I am greatly honoured to have earned permission from the City Of Woodstock to be a member of City Council for the next 4 years.
It was a difficult campaign -- crowded with 13 candidates vying to serve Woodstock in the City-only role.
I must thank my awesome wife Nicole, my two kids, everyone who contributed to my campaign in some way, especially the flyer delivery crew including Vicki, Margaret, Chris, Rob, Heidi, Grace, Emily and others. This morning at 11 a.m., myself and friend Travis will scurry around the city picking up signs.
It will be an interesting 4 years for the next term of council with lots of work planned, but by looking at the list of successful candidates I can certainly say the City is in good hands.
A big congratulations today to our new mayor in Jerry Acchione !
Congratulations to my 18-22 colleagues Connie Lauder and Deb Tait. Connie was amazing in the role of acting mayor. Also, Deb is relentless but often quiet behind the scenes, especially in securing financing for The Inn shelter at Operation Sharing to be 24/7.
Congratulations to the council additions of Kate Leatherbarrow, Liz Wismer-VanMeer and Bernia Wheaton. Our work begins !

I just read a post from a City Council candidate in Woodstock who said he would eliminate the $2 bag tag on garbage. The tag revenue, however, goes directly to Oxford County accounts — not Woodstock City Hall. The current second weigh station construction at Salford landfill is an overdue improvement but the so-called information centre at $2 million was not necessary to the degree it was built
Continue to be great in diverting from landfill and recycling as it’s important in so many ways to our environment
today. Hopefully, with teamwork from County the bag tag scenario can be changed. Keep in mind, the County and townships farm out their garbage and recyling pick up to companies like Emterra.

BREAKING NEWS !
NEW WOODSTOCK SCHOOL Update
It was announced in December of 2021 that Woodstock would be receiving a brand new K-8 public school in the Havelock Corners subdivision. This school would be built for a capacity of 650+ students, will include a daycare centre, and would be located on 8 acres with a construction cost at more than $17 million.
The Thames Valley School Board (TVDSB) has now announced details for a virtual public meeting to present their update and it's set for Oct. 27.

I realize the city council debate for Monday's election was on Oct. 12 at UNIFOR Hall, but in case you missed my 3-minute intro speech here it is in prose form as I know I didn't make it under the time allotted buzzer. www.marklivesinwoodstock.blogspot.com
