Today, Mabuh Kwifon laid to rest Tantoh Nkembah of the Oku Palace, a distinguished Tantoh Kwifon Ebkuo.

Initiated into the Kwifon Society in September 2007 as a Nchiynda and fter serving diligently, he was raised to the rank of a Tantoh( Baa Kwifon).
Tantoh Nkembah served with unwavering dedication and loyalty until his passing. He served Kwifon for 19 years.

His funeral rites continue tomorrow at the Oku Fon’s Palace with the traditional Kwifon masquerade displays. One of the rare highlights will be the appearance of Nkeh Kwifon, a sacred masquerade that is performed only during the funeral rites of a Tantoh and other highly ranked members of the society.

May his soul rest in peace and may his legacy of service endure.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Conclave of the Bui Fons in Bafoussam was convened with the overriding objective of promoting peace, unity and mutual understanding among the traditional rulers of our Division. It is therefore regrettable that public discourse has drifted away from this noble purpose and become centered on the issue of paramountcy which is neither the priority nor a matter for public contention.

Today, Bui Division faces challenges that demand our collective attention. Our people long for peace and our Fons remain committed to finding lasting solutions through dialogue and mutual respect. This is where our focus should be.

I therefore call on all sons and daughters of Oku to immediately desist from insulting, denigrating or publicly attacking any Fon in Bui Division. Such actions are inconsistent with our customs, our values and the respect we owe to the institution of traditional leadership.

Let us allow the Fons to resolve their concerns through the established traditional mechanisms. Our duty as a people is to support every effort that promotes peace, strengthens unity and safeguards the dignity of all the Fondoms of Bui Division.

The Palace expresses its profound gratitude to the three Nchiysendase residing in the United States, Ebchiofai OCDA USA, Nforme General USA and Nchiynda Forbah Romanus Dorr for their generous purchase and shipment of 200 iron chairs to the Oku Fon’s Palace at a total cost of 3,880,500 FCFA.

As our population continues to grow and the Palace increasingly hosts large gatherings, there was a genuine need for additional seating to comfortably accommodate our people during important ceremonies. Their timely and generous contribution has met this important need and further strengthened the dignity and capacity of the Oku Royal Palace.

Over the weekend, the Oku Sports Club Bamenda and the newly established OCDA Up Station Branch paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty, the Fon of Oku at the Oku Royal Palace under construction in Up Station, Bamenda.

The visit was marked by a strong message of unity and commitment to the development of Oku. The delegation also formally presented themselves to His Majesty and reaffirmed their support for the vision of a united and progressive Oku community.

His Majesty the Fon of Oku warmly welcomes the inaugural launch of the publication “The Fon of Nso and the Anglophone Crisis.” This important work is a timely call for reconciliation and peace in our beloved region.

As a brotherly Fondom to Nso, Oku could not be left out of this important initiative and call for peace, particularly in our beloved Bui Division. The Fon of Oku was ably represented at this significant event by Ebchiofai Nsanen, Traditional Prime Minister of the Oku Fondom who doubles as the Chief of Mbam Village and Shey Amos Ngum, President of OCDA Yaoundé. Their presence underscored Oku’s unwavering commitment to the pursuit of unity and mutual understanding among our people.
