Councilors of Kumbo Council receive Training.
Elected municipal councilors of Kumbo Council have undergone a two day
training on their roles, responsibilities and attitudes towards the council and their communities.
The training was facilitated by Positive Vision Cameroon, by for 02 days with main topics :What the 2019 law says about the the functions and rights of the councilors, what they should not do and the functions of council committees, Gender and Social inclusion issues, conflict management, councilors roles in managing crsis like the Covid pandemic, councilors role in the Council Development Planning process and the budget elaboration, ex*****on and validation process.
The concept of decentralization and local governance was also discussed.
In his opening remarks, Lord Mayor Dr. Mborong Venasius Bongkiyung thanked all who honoured the invitation. He said he expected all present to go back filled with knowledge on how councilors should work.
On his part, the Assistant Coordinator of PVC Mr. Cheyeh Julius said the objective of the workshop was to build capacities of newly elected councilors to be able to perform their tasks to promote local economic development.
During the training, councilors did group work on the roles of the health, education and finance committees. How they intend to work during their mandate.
Closing the training in day two, Lord Mayor Dr Mborong Venasius Bomgkiyung applauded the active participation of councilors and promised to build capacities frequently because he had seen the importance of the training. He thanked the PVC team of facilitators for mastery of the subject.
PVC responded by thanking Kumbo council for trusting them and promised to always be there for technical assistance.
