Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou Welcomes Malabon Business Delegation

GUANGZHOU, 20 July 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou welcomed a delegation from the Malabon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MCCII), led by Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and MCCII President Benjamin Chua, during a courtesy visit to the Consulate on 20 July 2026.

The delegation is undertaking a business mission to Guangzhou and Shenzhen to strengthen business linkages, explore investment opportunities, and gain insights into China’s technological innovations through visits to leading companies, including BYD, Huawei, and DJI.

Consul General Iric Cruz Arribas briefed the delegation on Guangdong’s economic landscape and the Consulate’s initiatives to promote Philippine-China trade, investment, and business partnerships. The Consulate’s economic team also presented opportunities for cooperation in key sectors and discussed the role of economic diplomacy in supporting Philippine businesses.

Philippine Consulate General Welcomes Opening of Reyna's Cravings, the First Filipino Restaurant in Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU, 18 July 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou supported and participated in the grand opening of Reyna’s Cravings, the first Filipino restaurant in Guangzhou, owned by Ms. Renia Batuigas Barrios, on 18 July 2026.

Philippine Consul General Iric Cruz Arribas, together with Consulate personnel, attended the opening ceremony and joined Ms. Barrios in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In his remarks, Consul General Arribas congratulated Ms. Barrios on this milestone and highlighted the role of Filipino entrepreneurs in promoting Philippine culture and strengthening people-to-people ties abroad.

“Filipino restaurants overseas are more than businesses—they are cultural ambassadors that share our traditions, hospitality, and identity through food. We are pleased to support Filipino enterprises like Reyna’s Cravings that help expand the presence of Philippine culture in Guangzhou,” he said.

The Consulate welcomed the opening as an important step in promoting Filipino cuisine in Southern China. The restaurant offers Filipinos in Guangzhou a taste of home while introducing local and international diners to the richness and diversity of Philippine culinary traditions. Through authentic cuisine and warm hospitality, Reyna’s Cravings helps foster greater appreciation of Philippine culture.

PCCI, CCPIT Guangdong Forge Partnership to Boost Philippines–Guangdong Economic Ties

GUANGZHOU, 17 July 2026 – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), represented by its Secretary General Ruben Pascual, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the 2026 ASEAN–China (Guangdong) Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Coordination and Exchange Conference in Guangzhou.

The MOU provides a framework for promoting trade, investment, business matching, trade missions, and commercial exchanges between Philippine and Guangdong enterprises.

The signing was facilitated by the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou following the meeting of Consul General Iric Cruz Arribas and CCPIT Guangdong Vice Chairman Yao Xinmin on 20 March 2026, during which both sides agreed to pursue closer economic ties between the Philippines and Guangdong Province.

Guangdong is China’s largest provincial economy and its leading province in foreign trade. As a major gateway for economic cooperation with ASEAN and is the Philippines’ principal economic partner in China, the province offers significant opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, innovation, and green industries.

Philippine Consulate General Introduces Utahloy International School Guangzhou Students to Philippine Culture and Diplomacy

GUANGZHOU, 15 July 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou welcomed students from the Utahloy International School Guangzhou (UISG) on 15 July 2026 as part of its cultural diplomacy efforts to promote greater awareness and appreciation of the Philippines among young people in Southern China.

Consuls Jan Michael Gomez and Stephanie Alexis Cruz introduced the students to the work of the Consulate and various aspects of Philippine culture, tourism, folklore, animation, and traditional games. During a tour of the Consulate, the students learned about its role in protecting the welfare of Filipino nationals, advancing Philippine interests overseas, and strengthening Philippines–China relations through economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges.

"The Consulate helps protect Filipino nationals, promotes trade and investment, and creates opportunities for cultural and tourism exchanges that strengthen the friendship between the Philippines and China," Consul Cruz said.

Consul Gomez introduced the students to Philippine mythical creatures, including the Kapre, Duwende, Aswang, Tikbalang, and Manananggal, followed by a presentation of the Filipino animated series Sun Chaser. The visit concluded with the students participating in Aswang, Aswang, a traditional Filipino children's game inspired by Philippine folklore.

This year’s observance highlights the importance of advancing disability rights through strengthened legislation, inclusive policies, and rights-based governance in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and the Philippines’ national development goals. Batangas Vice Governor Mandanas Visits Philippine Consulate in Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU, 9 July 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou welcomed the visit of Batangas Vice Governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas, National Chairman of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines. The visit forms part of his efforts to explore cooperation with key cities and provinces in China in the areas of local governance, economic development, smart cities, digital transformation, and agriculture.

During the courtesy call, Consul General Iric Arribas provided an overview of Philippines–Guangdong economic relations, highlighting Guangdong as the Philippines’ largest provincial trading partner. He also emphasized Batangas’ strategic role in attracting foreign investments through its industrial estates, logistics infrastructure, and location within the CALABARZON growth corridor.

“Guangdong is the Philippines’ largest provincial trading partner. Batangas is well positioned to attract investments from Guangdong, particularly manufacturing companies locating in the Lima Industrial Estate and other economic zones,” Consul General Arribas said.

Vice Governor Mandanas previously served as Governor of Batangas from 1995 to 2004 and from 2016 to 2025, and represented the Second District of Batangas in the House of Representatives from 2004 to 2013. He currently serves as Vice Governor of Batangas, National Chairman of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines, and Secretary General of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP).

Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou Receives Philippine Fujian General Association Delegation, Hosts Business Networking Session

GUANGZHOU, 3 July 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou welcomed the officers and members of the Fooking Merchant Benevolent Association Inc. (also known as the Philippine Fujian General Association), led by its President, Mr. Wilson Wan, during their visit to the Consulate on 3 July 2026.

To support the delegation’s visit, the Consulate organized a business and investment briefing highlighting opportunities for stronger Philippines-Southern China economic cooperation. Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Vice Consul Froilan Pamintuan presented the latest trade, investment, and business prospects in the Philippines. The delegation also heard presentations from representatives of the Guangdong Province Association for the Advancement of Canton Culture Industry Development, the Guangdong Provincial Association of Industry Associations, Shenghuo Zaizuo Garment Co., Ltd., and the China Foreign Trade Centre, among others.

In his welcome remarks, Consul General Iric Cruz Arribas underscored Guangdong Province’s importance as one of the Philippines’ key economic partners and encouraged the delegation to explore opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges.

“While governments provide the framework for bilateral relations, it is the connections forged between businesses, communities, and people that sustain and strengthen these ties over time,” Consul General Arribas said.

The visit provided an opportunity for Philippine and Chinese business representatives to exchange views, identify potential areas of cooperation, and reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening economic and people-to-people ties.
