Closing on a property in Costa Rica involves more than the sale price — and you need to consider these costs as early as the negotiation stage.
Closing costs typically sum up to 3.7%–4.7% of the purchase price, covering the transfer tax, notary fees, escrow, stamps, and registration but also a survey inspection, construction inspection, and commonly used creation of a corporation.
A portion of these costs are fixed percentages declared by law while the rest may vary slightly depending on structure and specific transaction.
