Mrs. Philippines World 2019 CE&NA

Introduction: I am a mother of two energetic and very interactive children. Being a mom at a young age, I positioned myself a big responsibility early in life that hinders me to explore my youth. The last four years however I tend to seek and discover new experiences that I can grow and learn upon. My children has been my inspiration to move forward in life full of positivities and possibilities. They are the one who motivates me to do and be more beyond my motherhood. My life lead me to run an online Filipino store back in 2015 until 2017 which given me the confidence to dream bigger. Year 2016 when I started an organization called MaxaM Foundation, derived from the nicknames of my children. “Sam” and “Max”. The Foundation’s focus is helping less fortunate children in the Philippines. MaxaM Foundation has been conducting small charity works since it started together with my family and so far it helped decent amount of children by mainly conducting feeding program, distributing school supplies, school tools & equipments, school uniform and school renovations in public schools. After being crown as Mrs. Philippines World Continental Europe & Nordic Area 2019 alongside with all the responsibility as a title holder and organizing fundraising events for different causes and projects I have been taking every moment to pursue my biggest dream as a restaurant owner which currently on its planning stage. Q: Why did you join the pageant? It was purely to challenge myself and learn something new when I competed and won at Mrs. Philippines World Continental Europe & Nordic Area Selection in Hamburg, Germany on June 29, 2019. Being blessed with this opportunity I want to use this platform to give more impact to the world that we, mothers can do and be more beyond our motherhood. We can give an impression and encouragement to other mothers that can deliver us from what society has categorized us and eventually create a meaningful legacy. Furthermore, because of that motivation I believe that I can lead by example during my reign on how I work after my dream of opening a modernized Filipino restaurant and share my tenacious journey up to its completion in spite of attending two children.

Q:What do you want to tell the world? • In the Philippines, a hard life and a tough journey to school esp. in the province are just some of the summons that these young children are enduring on a daily basis. In the hope for a better future they are determined on finishing their education in spite of their insufficiency. In results, some goes to school empty handed or worse with an empty stomach. MaxaM Foundation aims to ease these circumstances that can lead to discouragement and poor performance by giving assistance of their basic necessities in order to learn better. Additionally we are conducting feeding program to fill their hungry stomach. I believe that no matter how small these gestures are, it gives huge relief to both of these children and their parents. • The biggest man-made problem of our time, plastic. Fortunately, raising awareness has becoming bigger than ever due to the efforts of different organization. Volunteering with our local government program in The Netherlands called “Groningen Schoon Dankzij Mij” (“A Cleaner Groningen Thanks to Me”) for a cleaner neighborhood and making efforts on eradicating plastics in the North Sea including its seashores. It opened my eyes and eventually those I was able to influence along the way on how important to be more responsible plastic user and make personal changes on reducing our plastic consumption. On the other hand, joining the movement of National Geographic’s “ Stop Met Plastic” gives me the opportunity to help clean different cities in The Netherlands. Setting a good example indeed influence others to do the same because changes starts on every one of us and only through unity we can make a long lasting difference.

Challenges Moving to a new country with two children without the help of my family back in the Philippines has been a tough start. Eventually, I became fully adjusted to the flow of life in The Netherlands and start to thrive. At one point I overcome which has been the toughest part of my life. During that period I realized the real essence of a woman and a mother. Advancing, I am focusing on the positivity and continue to become happier, healthier, wiser and stronger.

Life as a “Mrs.” Attending my children is my priority, but I have learned the importance of knowing how to balance my life beyond it. Setting aside time to plan for my future ventures and other commitments is very essential. While life balance may seem like an impossibility, it’s within our grasp if we accomplish smaller things daily rather than trying to do it all. Sometimes all we need is a plan of attack. Eventually kids will grow up, be adults and go on their own way. That is my biggest reminder to not lose sight of who I am. So I am making sure that I still have hobbies, friends, work and other interests besides being a mother.
