le.sens

le.sens le.sens was founded in 2008 in hamburg, germany by designer leonie sens. no digital printing and no harmful solvents are ever used in this process.

the designs of the le.sens collections are pushing the limitations and re-defining the concepts of traditional scarf design. leonie sens has developed an individual language and iconography that is evident in every collection, yet every collection creates a new and sublime imaginary microcosmos around its own poetic story board. every design starts as a meticulous hand drawing and is then taken th

rough a careful manufacturing process in le.sens' own hamburg based workshops employing the traditional artisan craft of screen printing in combination with eco-friendly water based colors. every piece is finally sewn, washed and finished by hand.

the title of our new winter 21/22 collection is referring to an ancient arabic word meaning 'departure' or 'emigration’.
we use it in joni mitchel’s spelling HEJIRA from her 1976 album that speaks about a personal journey and a soul-searching road trip.
as we are facing many vital challenges on our earth some of us have started dreaming about emigration to another planet.
but isn't the journey we need to take rather one that faces our own hidden spheres and dark sides and get reconnected with nature and our live saving resources we hold within?
i really hope that we will not abandon our planet but instead do all we can, to keep it alive - just remember how beautiful it looks from outer space.
thank you -

the small scarf TAKO is our third special edition in which we would like to donate part of the proceeds to a charity or nature project - this time it is for a conservation program that works for
the long-term protection of the kelp seaforest in south africa.
in the design of the scarf TAKO - the japanese word for octopus - you can find creatures of all kinds and TAKO is dedicated to them - it is our small contribution to protect their habitat.

10€ of every sold scarf will be donated to the sea change project - find more information about the project on their website

now on our website -
summer 21 collection AVANI

AVANI is the sanskrit word for 'earth' - and as it has become very obvious that we have to rethink our relationship to our global home, the pieces express my hope for a better world and a friendly future. like all le.sens pieces they are created with ecological ethics in mind and I hope that they will continue to inspire in a positive way.

we are happy to present our new
summer 20 capsule collection AINIMA

AINIMA is a native american word and means 'to see‘
- this collection is inspired by the things and events we all see
at this present time - both menacing and hopeful.
le.sens is donating 10 € of every sold scarf from this collection
towards a nature preservation project.

new autumn winter 19/20 collection mishmash

mishmash is a poetic consideration of the relationship between order and chaos: are things okay or are they sinking into chaos? can we continue as before? always something new... always even more... of what? what is lost to us? how can we change? get rid of things? keep things! how to use our resources? how to connect the old with the new? how to fight a just fight for a new kind of order? without losing the overview...without losing ourselves.
