This past week we have had the opportunity to train in a house in which will be getting tore down soon, so may as well have some fun!

Shout out to Ney-Washington FD, Delaware Twp FD along with Farmer FD for coming out to train together as we often respond together in these situations!

Also shout out to Zak and Darrel for their instructor skills so Continuing Education credits were able to be handed out! Great job team!

The final end to EMS Week 2026 has presented a lucky winner with a new EKO Stethoscope!
For every EMS call that was made in 2026, one entry was placed in a drawing and Mr Sidle was the winner! Congrats buddy and put it to good use!

Last week the Anatomy & Physiology 1 students had the opportunity to get their recertification in CPR. A special thanks to the Sherwood Fire and Rescue volunteers who made this possible! Our community is lucky to have you!

Happy EMS Week to our wonderful providers! We are so thankful for each one of these people on and even off the list. These folks have a special desire to help anyone in need and often brings “the call” back into their homes and struggle quietly.

The next time you see any of these guys and gals, let them know how much they are appreciated and how lucky we are to have their skills and their time.

🚨 CERTIFICATE UPGRADE! 🚨

Sending a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Zak Merschdorf on obtaining his state Fire Inspector certificate! After a grueling online course and a week with in person learning with skill check offs, Zak has officially added more letters behind his name!
A Fire Safety Inspector are to enter buildings (usually businesses) to make sure that they are in compliance with local, state and federal fire code including making sure fire extinguishers are tested, sprinklers are tested and working, looking for electrical and other safety concerns. Inspectors have the ability to write citations for these faults .

To my knowledge, Zak is the first ever member of SFD to obtain this certificate! We are so excited to have your expertise and compassion on SFD!

We wanted to take a moment and recognize all the nurses out there and wish you a wonderful nurses week! We meet some pretty top notch ED nurses everyday and are thankful for the amazing care you give each time.

We would like to send our heart felt thanks to Hicksville EMS, Ney-Washington Fire, Farmer Fire and Delaware Township for stepping up and cover our response area so we were able to mourn the loss of our brother.

This week, we say our final goodbyes to Firefighter Chuck Wonderly. We honor and thank him for the 31 years of service and dedication to SFD and the surrounding communities.
We also thank his family for all those lost hours, meals around the dinner table and those late nights.
