Last week, we had a “lecture from a backpack” – an artist talk and exploration in public space led by artist Scott William Raby taking place across Aalborg’s built environment.
Through a guided walk and “show and tell” of art objects at specific locations, Scott introduced the BGK students to his artistic, curatorial, and organizational practice(s) that have unfolded at those specific places over the years. These art projects served as an introduction to analyzing public space, a presentation of his on-site approach, and as inspiration on the possibilities for expanded artistic practices across public spaces in the city.
This pedagogical event was the second of a three part workshop that will culminate in a group critique, where BGK students will present their own experimental public art practices and ideas on May 19th.
