The EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office, through its project in , SCOPE IPR, supported discussions on the convergence of trade mark examination practices across during a regional meeting held in , , on 18-20 August 2026.

Bringing together senior trade mark officials from ASEAN Member States’ IP offices with the goal of reviewing the ASEAN Common Guidelines for the Substantive Examination of Trade Marks and ensuring they remain aligned with evolving legal developments, international best practices, and the needs of trade mark system users.

The discussions also explored ways to enhance the accessibility and practical use of the Guidelines, contributing to greater consistency and transparency in trade mark examination across the region.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office - EUIPO's SCOPE IPR project participated in Singapore IP Week 2026 on 26-27 August, engaging with professionals, policymakers, businesses and innovators from across and beyond.

At the SCOPE IPR booth, participants learned more about the project’s work in supporting Member States’ IP offices, strengthening regional IP cooperation and promoting IP as a driver of innovation and economic development.

The EUIPO thanks everyone who visited the booth and exchanged insights on the future of IP in the region.

🍇 A Geographical Indication (GI) links a product’s qualities or reputation to where it is produced. Whether it is a traditional cheese, a local w**e or a unique craft product, drive sustainable practices, protect cultural heritage and support local economies.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office - EUIPO, through , assists 🇺🇦 Ukraine, 🇲🇩 Moldova and 🇦🇲 Armenia in strengthening their GI frameworks, promoting interinstitutional dialogue and helping producers navigate IP systems.

As of 2025, the EUIPO is also responsible for registering craft and industrial GIs across the EU, reinforcing its position as a global hub for .
