Barn Owls are beautiful. And to make sure their feathers stay in beautiful condition they even carry their own comb! Barn Owls are the only owl that has a "pectinate claw". This "claw" is a comb-like structure that is found on the inside edge of the talon on the 3rd toe. It fully develops by about age 2 years. No other owls have it. A similar structure is found on herons, bitterns, egrets, & nightjars. (Photo from melandsydney.blogspot.com.au)
